Game Hades: Intrigued Action Game
Before starting, the writer would like to explain briefly about the game Hades. Hades is a genre game action RPGs roguelikes developed by Supergiant Games year 2020.
This game had risen again because of the event Steam Bash Bash. For those of you who want to play this one game, you can buy it via Steam.
Hades Game Storyline Review: SPOILER ALERT!!!
As a disclaimer, the review that the author made is the result of personal experience playing the Hades game. To complement it, the author also conducts research from various other sources.
For those of you who have not played this game, then this article can be referred to as SPOILERS. However, if you still want to continue reading it, then be prepared to know the true meaning of this game.
Story Background
As the name suggests, Hades is a game set in Greek mythology. In Greek mythology, there are 3 main divisions of the world:
- Underworld, a place for those who have died, is further divided into 4
- tartarus,
- Asphodel,
- Elysium, and
- River of Styx.
- surfaces, the place where humans live or often called Greece, and
- Olympus, the abode of the gods.
It's important for you to know all three worlds, even if you're only playing in Underworld and a little on surfaces just.

Zagreus, Son of Hades
In this game, you don't play as Hades, but his son named Zagreus. At the beginning of the game, it is said that Zagreus is the son of the God Hades and Goddess NYX.
Judging by his looks, Zagreus was described as a boy in his 20s. He lives with his family and his pet dog, Cerberus, in Underworld.
Like games roguelikes usually, the game starts with Zagreus trying to get from the Underworld to Olympus, without any clues.
His efforts were heard by the gods on Olympus. Zagreus' attempt to leave was also supported by many parties, including the gods of Olympus. Unfortunately, his own father, Hades, went against Zagreus' will and made the journey even more difficult.
As a form of support, the gods di Olympus willing to lend his strength to Zagreus to get out of Underworld. But the power of the Olympian gods alone is not enough to fight against the increasingly powerful messenger of Hades.
Given the genre of this game is roguelikes, the system that this game uses is Permadeath. When you lose, you will return from the beginning, releasing all the power you received. Yes, just like the nature of a god that can't die.
Ever-Evolving Storyline
Repeating the game from the beginning is not something you regret, especially for this game. The reason is, the story of this game actually comes after you die. In simple terms, the more you die, the more stories you unlock.
The story presented in the form of a conversation and explanation by the narrator is very good. Apart from Hades and NYX, you can interact with the residents Underworld others, such as Hypnos, Achilles, Cerebrus, Dusa, Megaera, and many more.
The core of the Hades Game story only appears after you die several times. Zagreus learns that NYX isn't his real mother, but rather Persephone.
Zagreus finds Persephone's letter from Hades' desk which says that Persephone is going to surfaces (surface world) due to several factors.
Reading that, Zagreus turned around. Not towards Olympus, but looking for Persephone in the world surfaces.

Side-Story Which is interesting
Games roguelikes very boring if the story and goals are too monotonous. To make it more interesting, the developers added other characters who can interact and with side stories that are no less interesting.
In Tartarus, for example, you can meet Sisyphus. He received a life sentence from the god Zeus for pushing a boulder into a hill. But every time he tried, he always fell to the bottom.
Its presence doesn't have much effect in the game, but it seems the developer deliberately added it because Greek myth facts it's like that!
The appearance of the characters Eurydice and Orpheus in Asphodel can also give you chills when you hear them sing. They are a pair of “Singers” in Underworld which are very far apart.
Even though they don't know each other's existence, their love is very strong. If you follow their stories, there will be times when you can meet them at Underworld.
Finally, in Elysium, there is a story of love and friendship between Achilles and Patroclus. They are romantic partners separated by war. Patroclus' soul is stuck in Elysium, while Achilles is in Tartarus.
As Zagreus, you can define your own love story. There are 3 options that you can choose, namely with Megaera, Dusa, or Thanatos. The three of them had a very close relationship with Zagreus.

Hades Game Review: Interaction and Nectar
The story above is very interesting. But the fact is that there are several conditions in order to get the storyline. All Side-story above you can get in two ways.
The first way is to talk to all the characters every time you meet them in every escape attempt. They will say different things every time you interact and can only speak once while you are alive.
So you have to die repeatedly to develop a dialogue with this character, even for Charon's words which contain only "Mmm-Hngg-Mmng".
The second way is by giving nectar. nectar is a favorite item of the characters Greece. By giving nectar to existing characters, you can find out the deepest stories of the characters.
As the author mentioned above, you can also give nectar to the gods Olympus and know the full story about him.
The Surface Is Not the End of the Story
Reaching the surface is not easy, moreover you must be prepared to fight against Hades, your own father. After defeating Hades, the path to the surface world is wide open.
Zagreus will walk to Greece and meet his mother, Persephone. When you get there, you can dialogue with Persephone.
It is known that Persephone left for many reasons, but the essence of this story is Persephone's disappointment.
Persephone believed that Zagreus had died after Persephone gave birth to him. With a sense of sadness and disappointment with himself, he went towards surfaces and lived without any attachment to the gods.
Not long after Zagreus was declared dead, NYX came and gave Zagreus “life”. Hades deliberately kept this secret from Persephone for his own good and protected her from the gods Olympus.
Based on research results, if Hades told Persephone to have children, all the gods and goddesses of Olympus would hear about it, including Demeter. Demeter is the mother of Persephone, she lost her child after being "kidnapped" by Zeus and gave it to Hades.
Unfortunately, dialogue with Persephone is “Game Over”. Zagreus had a curse that his soul couldn't survive outside for long Underworld and must die. According to Hypnos, the reason for Zagreus' death in the surface world was “Natural causes”.
Look for True Endings Hades Games
Yes, you have reached ending of the Hades Game, reached the surface. But a thousand dear, is not it True Endings. To get True Endings, you must successfully exit Underworld as much as 9x.
After returning to the surface for the 9th time, Persephone decides to return to the Underworld, meet the residents, and reunite with Hades to become Goddess of Underworld.
Game Storyline Review Results Hades: Forgiveness and Unity
Of all the storylines in the Hades Game, the writer sees that all of them have the same common thread, namely that they both aim at forgiveness and unity.
During the trip, you can feel that even though Hades looks fierce and rough, he is very loyal and very fond of Persephone.
He closed himself and refused to apologize to Persephone because of pride. Meanwhile, Persephone is always waiting for news from the Underworld, especially from Hades.
