Hjerim is one of the houses in Skyrim that you can get. To stay here, you must complete “The Battle for Fort Sungard” for the Stormcloaks or complete the Imperial Legion's Civil War questline.

You can upgrade this house after completing the "Blood on the Ice" quest.

The cost for this house varies based on how much Gold you have.

The cheapest price one can buy is 8,000 Gold, and never more than 12,000 Gold. Meanwhile, fully upgrading Hjerim costs 10,250 Gold.

Honeyside is only available to players who wish to become Thane of Riften. You must demonstrate your abilities by helping the citizens of Riften before the Jarl will allow you to purchase Honeyside.

In terms of gameplay, you have to complete the “Skooma Trade” quest given by Wujeeta near the Riften Fishery and help five Riften NPCs.

Once all these steps are completed, the Jarl will allow you to purchase Honeyside.

Speak to Anuriel, or Hemming Black-Briar if the Empire controls the city, to purchase the property.

The house can be purchased for 5,000 Gold, and can be upgraded to 8,000 Gold.

Lakeview Manor (Falkreath Hold)

Lakeview Manor is a fairly easy house to get. Since this is a player-made house, the surrounding land must also be purchased first.

Jarl Siddgeir will sell the land to players provided they are a Thane of Falkreath.

To become Thane will require you to give him Black-Briar Mead, kill the bandit leader at a random nearby location, and help 3 Falkreath NPCs.

Once all the requirements are complete, you can talk to Nenya or Tekla, Stormcloak's replacement, to buy land for 5,000 Gold.

As with all Hearthfire houses, you have to harvest materials and buy resources to build the house.

Proudspire Manor is one of the easiest and most difficult houses to get.

How to buy it is very easy, because you only need to complete the missions "The Man Who Cried Wolf" and "Elisif's Tribute" for this option to appear.

And the main problem lies in the price of this house, where the price is 25,000 Gold and cannot be negotiated. To upgrade this house requires 11,000 Gold.

Of course, it will take a bit of grinding or bartering to get this house.

You can sell gems and jewelry to earn large amounts of cash. Or make potions and weapons and sell them.

Severin Manor (Raven Rock)

Unlike every other house in Skyrim, Severin Manor is completely free.

The condition is that you must complete "Served Cold," a mission that is related to the missions "March of the Dead" and "The Final Descent" in Solstheim.

You cannot upgrade this house after getting it.

Unlocking Vlindrel Hall in Markarth can be a bit confusing, as you choose one of three ways to get it.

Such as completing two requests for Jarl Igmund, completing the “Liberation of Skyrim” quest, or supporting Markarth during the “Season Unending” negotiations.

If you complete one of them it will allow Raerek to sell the property for 8,000 Gold. And the total upgrade cost is 4,100 Gold.

Windstad Manor (Hjaalmarch)

Morthal's "Laid to Rest" quest is the only condition for purchasing Windstad Manor.

After completing the quest, you can talk to Aslfur or Pactur to buy the land for 5,000 Gold.

However, you still have to use your own resources to build the property.
