So it is only natural that the initial concept for the Zelda film project that they proposed also came in the form of a computer-generated animation film.
Some of their film portfolios include Astro Boy (2009) and TMNT (2007). However, based on this track record, it's a shame that... Nintendo not yet willing to give a positive response.
And this was a wise business decision, as the trend of adapting video games to the big screen hadn't really taken off at the time. The lack of momentum could have even led to backlash.
Not only that, three years after they submitted the pitch for the film project, the studio in question declared bankruptcy in 2010 – the impact of Astro Boy's flop.
It was only in 2023 that Nintendo finally pushed through the film project. Zelda. What's even more exciting is that instead of having it in the form of CGI computer animation (like the game), Nintendo chose a live-action concept!
