New Nier Automata Anime Plot Released in 2023

A-1 Pictures finally released the adaptation of the game NieR Automata: Ver1.1a episode 1, which was released on Sunday, January 8, 2023 on Crunchyroll.

The first episode is titled "or not to [B]e,” is available to stream with Indonesian subtitles worldwide on Crunchyroll. In Japan itself, this anime is broadcast on certain broadcasting channels such as Tokyo MX and BS 11.

Lots of fans from games Nier Automata has been waiting for the anime adaptation for a long time. In 2023 this is good news for the fans.

If you intend to watch cool anime without playing the game, you need to know in advance how the plot or storyline of Nier Automata is.

NieR Automata Anime Plot

In the first episode, NieR Automata titled or not to [B]e, introducing viewers to the anime's setting as it will be based on the distant future of 5012. 

At that moment, Earth is facing an aerial invasion where the (Aliens) from Pod 042 and their creations (Machine Life Forms) are bringing humanity to the brink of extinction. The human survivors escape and take shelter on the moon.

Since then, humans have been organizing counterattacks against the (Aliens) using the (androids) they created to reclaim Earth. However, the war had reached a stalemate, considering that the [Machine Life Forms] created by the [Aliens] continued to multiply indefinitely.

Next, humanity creates and deploys new android army units. The unit of troops is known as the ultimate weapon (YoRHa). 

The story is set to focus on one of these androids (YoRHa), who is about to be sent to Earth for Operation Descent 243 to join the 9), analysts currently stationed on an airship there.

This may be the first encounter between the 2B and 9S, and it will be interesting to see how the androids respond to the event. 

As per their character introduction for the anime, 2B is described as a YoRHa android who tries to follow their rules and doesn't show any emotion. 

Even among its units, 2B manages to be one of the most calm and collected androids. In contrast, 9S is completely different because he is willing to show his emotions and expressions.

Besides that, android it's supported by Pods, which can play a big role in the story. <2B> is supported by Pod 042 and 9S is supported by Pod 153. 

During their mission, viewers will see the two androids encounter a myriad of mysterious phenomena as they try to figure things out. This is when fans can learn more about the initial attack on Earth and more about the Aliens attacking Earth.

Episode 9 delay

Covid-19 again affected the schedule of the newly formed production house, delaying the release of NieR: Automata Ver1.1a episode 9 onwards. 

Previously on January 21, 2023, due to the sudden outbreak of the Corona virus within the studio, A-1 Pictures had to postpone the upcoming episode of episode 4. 

Several other anime from well-known studios have also experienced delays due to the outbreak, including Boruto: Naruto's Next Generation, The Misfit of Demon King Academy, Bofuri Season 2, Ayakashi Triangle, and Uncle From Another World.

Thankfully, some series have gotten back on track, while others are still on a tentative hiatus. The anime's production committee was also discouraged by the virus' second strike on the production schedule.

NieR: Automata is arguably one of the most popular JRPG games on the market, debuting back in 2017. The game is set in 11945 AD, where a proxy war broke out between invaders from another world and the androids.
