iOS 18 will be available to iPhone users in September. However, the developer beta version has been available for download since June 10 2024 and the public beta will be available next month.

In this update, Apple introduced several new features that users can enjoy. Here is the summary:

Custom Home Screen

So far, the application icon settings on the iPhone have been made quite simple and rigid so they cannot be customized.

So in this update, Apple has made all the icons on the home screen moveable to a more comfortable position for each user.

Not only that, users can also change the color nuances of the application icon to light or dark mode, and the size of the icons on the home screen can also be adjusted according to taste.

Control Center

In this update, you can modify the Control Center through the latest setup feature. Apart from that, application developers can also present tools for their applications in the Control Center.

Photos

On the latest iOS, you can see a photo grid display at the top of the application and folders arranged according to themes at the bottom of the application.

You can also sort visual content by month and year, as well as a filter button to hide screenshots in the application.

Apart from that, there is also a collections section which allows you to search for photos according to several topics.

Game Mode

For the first time, Apple started bringing a dedicated Game Mode to the iPhone. This feature will allow the iPhone to minimize background activity to increase the frame rate when playing games.

Apart from that, gamers can also connect AirPods and wireless game controllers more smoothly.

Messages

The appearance of the Messages application will be overhauled to produce a fresher feel. You can also respond with emojis.

Other features in Messages are scheduling certain messages, changing the text format (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough).

And you can also highlight words or phrases and replace them with other recommendations.

Satellite Connection

As has been widely discussed before, iOS 18 now supports RCS, where this feature previously existed on Android phones.

With RCS, your iPhone can transmit via satellite without having to activate cellular service or connect to it WiFi.

Mail

Now your iPhone can create message categories and prioritize messages in Mail on iOS 18.

Topographic Maps

Now you can find out the climbing route on Maps. This makes it possible to provide more accurate topographic maps that appear to match the original conditions of an area.
