Who doesn't understand big names? Mortal Kombat (MK)? For those who like the fighting genre, MK is certainly a cool option that you must pay attention to.

Compared to other big fighting franchises, such as Tekken, Street Fighter (SF), King of Fighters (KoF), etc., MK has its own uniqueness: it makes it quite different from these games.

While other fighting franchises place more emphasis on button mashing/combining combos, MK's gameplay is not designed like that.

Indeed, the existence of button mashing and combining combos also exists in MK. However, the main selling point lies more in the mainstay moves (Finishing Moves) which are varied and unique to each character.

Yep, Fatality, Brutality, and of course, Animality! These three types of "Ultimate", if carried out successfully, can feature epic cutscenes full of Gore elements!

It's natural that MK fans end up being addicted to this game! Not to mention the existence of various iconic characters who are very familiar to gaming enthusiasts.

Some of them include Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Raiden, Sub Zero, Scorpion, etc.! So, it's no surprise that the series continues to survive for 31 years!

After more than three decades of MK being involved in the global gaming industry, its newest series was released again in mid-2023. This latest installation is named Mortal Kombat 1.

NetherRealm Studio as the developer in collaboration with Warner Bros as the publisher and distributor, is still continuing the storyline from the previous installation, namely MK 11.

Uniquely, after so many developments presented to the sequel, MK 1 looks like a reset of the franchise. The appearance of the various characters seems to be restored like the release of the first MK game in 1992.

However, everything has a contemporary touch and various aspects of modern gaming. However, that doesn't mean that this game will immediately get an overall positive response, you know.

Indeed, in general, many gaming critic platforms have given good reviews to the next gen console and desktop versions. But specifically for version Nintendo SwitchHis, MK 1 harvests blasphemy.

Mostly because the graphics and features have been "trimmed" too extreme. The developer is trying to compromise porting efforts to the Switch, which has a very outdated engine.

From there, the developers finally tried to "make up" for their mistakes by presenting various additional features. And of course one of them is the cross-platform feature which came later.

In fact, this has become an industry standard that is worthy of presenting contemporary games.

So, NetherRealm's efforts to make this a "bribe" so that the gaming world forgets the blunders of their Switch version actually seems forced.

This feature itself was just added in the patch update dated February 29 yesterday. Even that doesn't apply to all platforms: again the Nintendo Switch version is compromised.

Named Krossplay and Kross-Progression, these features need to be turned on to take effect. The method is also easy: in the 'Main Menu' section select the 'Settings' option, then go to 'Online', and 'Enable Krossplay'.

If so, players can experience several things, including:

Crossplay

  1. Perform matchmaking in Ranked Kombat League, Casual Versus, and King of the Hill Online modes (for multiplayer match modes);
  2. Invite friends for Private Versus matches;
  3. Join the King of the Hill mode lobby, both public and private;
  4. Can watch replays of matches, Leaderboards, and Kombat Kard status on all platforms.

Cross-Progression

  1. Giving players access to a variety of Kross-Progression content; And,
  2. Can continue progression on all platforms.
