Armor for the Early Game – Nidavellir Armor Set

  • Nidavellir's Finest Plackart
  • Nidavellir's Finest Arm Guards
  • Nidavellir's Finest Waist Guard

Nidavellir is one of the first armor sets that you can make in the Brok shop. This armor is designed to keep you alive while exploring the early realm.

This is due to a strong increase in strength and vitality, as well as an increase in HP when immobilizing a stunned enemy thanks to Plackart's Stunning Recovery.

In addition, there is also a reduction in how quickly the enemy's stun bar is drained through the Stunning Persistence of the Arm and Waist Guard.

Even though you will surpass the Nidavellir set at some point, this armor set will prove effective for you to use in the early game God of War Ragnarok.

You will get the blueprint of the Nidavellir Armor after you visit Svartalfheim for the first time and trigger In Service of Asgard assistance on Nidavellir.

Then you can turn off the mining rigs scattered around Bounty Bay. Doing so will give you the resource, namely Nidavellir Ore, which is needed to craft armor.

Armor for Mid Game – Lunda's Lost Armor Set

  • Lunda's Lost Cuirass
  • Lunda's Lost Bracers
  • Lunda's Lost Belt

The best mid game armor set in God of War Ragnarok is Lunda's Lost Armor. Lunda's Lost Armor is a very effective armor set geared toward attacking with increased power, runnic attacks, and using poison damage to your advantage in most fights.

The Lost Cuirass gives Vanir Poison to generate bonus damage and poison enemies.

The Lost Bracers and Lost Belt will follow this up with Prey Upon Poison, which increases the damage from melee attacks on poisoned enemies. This means you can parry to poison the enemy, then deal massive damage as a follow-up.

Lunda's Lost Armor becomes available after you complete Lunda's Lost Armor Labor in Vanaheim. The three pieces of armor were scattered throughout the Vanaheim River Delta, especially in the Cliffside Ruins, Shrouded Passage, and Noatun Gardens. Find them all and return to Lunda to build the set.

Armor for Late Game – Steinbjorn Armor Set

  • Steinbjorn Plackart
  • Steinbjorn Gauntlets
  • Steinbjorn Waist Guard

Apart from increasing Kratos' defense stat to 585, the Steinbjorn Armor set also provides several other defense benefits, which makes it one of the best armor sets in God of War Ragnarok.

The waist guard and gauntlets combine to offer Stunning Retaliation, which provides a lucky chance to stagger and stun nearby enemies when Kratos takes damage.

As for Steinbjorn Plackart's chest armor, Bloodthirsty Retaliation means that every Kratos attack after taking damage will restore HP.

Not only will enemies struggle to do any damage to the HP bar, but if they do then Kratos will pay back with devastating consequences.

Overall, the Steinbjorn set does what armor is supposed to do, namely turning Kratos into a tank capable of surviving attack after attack.

This becomes especially useful when you face an optional late-game boss who deals massive damage with even one hit.

To get the Steinbjorn armor set, you must complete the Steinbjorn Armor Labor. To do so, you must track down the Mystical Legacy in Midgard, use it on troll statues in the nine realms to summon trolls, and defeat the trolls to collect Slumber Stones to craft armor.
