Luau is a festival that focuses on making soup with ingredients added by villagers.

Players can choose a raw ingredient to add to the soup and later the governor will try the soup and give an assessment.

Before the soup is tried, players must talk to Major Lewis and select the “yes, let's start” option in the dialog box that appears.

The reaction the governor gives when tasting the soup depends on what items the player adds to it.

Friendship points with villagers will also rise and fall depending on the items the player adds to the soup. This is a great opportunity to improve your relationship with the villagers.

The Luau Festival will automatically end after the governor tastes the soup that has been made and players will return directly to the farm at 10 p.m.

During the festival, you can also visit Pierre's booth which sells the following items:

  • Wall Palm – 1000g
  • Jungle Decal – 800g
  • Ceiling Leaves – 400g
  • Totem Pole – 1000g
  • Starfruit – 3000g
  • Plain Torch – 700g

Entering Items into the Potluck

When adding items to soup, only edible items that are still in an unprocessed state can be added.

Magic Rock Candy and Pina Colada items are categorized as “cooked” so you can't use it.

As a note, the game will not tell you if the “potluck” in question is soup and cooked items or non-edible items cannot be used.

You can still change items for the soup before Major Lewis says “I trust you all put high-quality ingredients in the pot this year. We don't want the governor to regret his visit to the valley!“.

There are three factors that will determine the governor's reaction, namely the quality of the item, price, and the nature of the food (healing effect).

In multiplayer mode, all players must add items to the soup or a “Missing Something” response will appear and the final result is determined by the worst item added.

Apart from the "Missing Something" response, there are 6 other responses that players will get, namely Best, Good, Neutral, Bad, Worst and Secret.

  • Best Response will give players 120 Friendship points
  • Good Response will give players 60 Friendship points
  • Neutral Response will not award or deduct points
  • Bad Response will reduce 50 Friendship points
  • Worst Response will deduct 100 Friendship points and the governor will faint after tasting the soup

You will get a Secret Response when you add the Major Lewis Lucky Purple Shorts item to the soup. Adding these items will not affect Friendship points with villagers.
