According to his comrade in arms from the Persian Ishin Shishi, this wound continued to bleed and could not be healed as a sign of a curse because Kenshin killed an innocent person.

In his return home design for kanzenban, the wound on Kenshin's cheek has been changed to be longer across from his nose to below the tip of his right eye.

Hiko saved Kenshin's life when he was still a child and adopted him out of admiration for his bravery. He also taught Kenshin the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu technique.

During the second practice, Kenshin seemed to almost match Hiko's speed. In fact, Hiko holds back his true abilities behind a cloak weighing 90 kilograms.
