Can the Brimstone Valorant Update in Patch 4.03 Affect the Existing Meta?

Patches Valorant 4.03 is just around the corner, as Riot Games have released their official patch notes, which mention an update for Brimstone Valorant among a few changes.

According to the patch notes, Riot has enhanced Brimstone Valorant's Orbital Strike (X) ability, denying enemy visibility when the ability is active. As a result, enemies will no longer be seen if they are on the Brimstone ulti radar after the update.

As already posted on the Valor Leaks Twitter account, that this controller agent will receive many changes.

Brimstone, or Agent 01 from Protocol Valorant, is one of 10 Agents featured in the game during the beta release.

Over the years, the American soldier has enjoyed several changes to his capability toolkit. Likewise, patch 4.03 will introduce minor updates that may impact Brimstone's standing in the ongoing Valorant meta.

Can Patch 4.03 help Brimstone Valorant return to its current Valorant meta?

The changes that Riot promised for Brimstone in patch 4.03 are expected to improve its efficacy in competitive Valorant. Currently, some Agents' abilities can bypass Orbital Brimstone Assault.

Pulses from Recon Dart Sova and flash abilities from several Agents such as Skye, Yoru, Phoenix and so on, can detect and affect enemies through Orbital Strike.

However, with changes coming in the near future, Orbital Strike Brimstone will be safe from the aforementioned scenarios.

Enemies will no longer be able to gather recon or blind them through ultimates, giving Brimstone Valorant an additional three second window to complete his objective unhindered. In addition, enemies will not be displayed on the mini-map (radar).

Players can expect a positive impact on Brimstone Valorant performance as a result of the upcoming changes. However, its effectiveness in professional scenarios is questionable.

Unlike basic abilities and Agent's signature abilities, ultimate abilities take time to activate. Given the situational nature of Brimstone's Orbital Strike, this change will likely have little impact on its pick-rate. However, since the update hasn't been released yet, the best we can do is speculate.

Brimstone Valorant was a dominant presence in the Valorant meta during the game's early days. With a toolkit that provides smoke, Molotov cocktails, and battle stimulation utilities, players are content with Brimstone as their top choice for Controllers.

Additionally, Brimstone's ulti allows him to unleash orbital attacks on desired areas within range of his tactical map. This allows the Agent to be ideal for post planting situations as well, having the ability to annihilate a team of enemies single-handedly with Brimstone's ultimate.

However, as more patch updates and Agent releases entered the equation, Brimstone's position in the meta game started to diminish. The buff to Viper and the release of Astra had a sizeable impact on Brimstone Valorant's in-game pick-rate, rendering its presence ineffective in Valorant esports.

With the upcoming 4.03 patch update, players hope to see Brimstone return to the meta as one of the most effective Controllers in the game.

From this update many say that Brimstone has had a lot of impact that will make it return to the ongoing meta now. Because the ulti he has now has a very big impact.

However, from all of them, there is also a drawback that Brimstone gets, which is no longer being able to see the enemy's position if the enemy is on Brimstone's ultimate radar. That is something that players who want to return to using Brimstone as an ongoing meta should also pay attention to.

Many also speculate that this update from Brimstone will be liked by many and return a Brimstone to the players' meta. Many believe that Brimstone will definitely be seen again in every match replacing an Astra and also a Viper who is the controller agent that we often encounter in every match.
