Previously the 7 day free trial was only available for the PlayStation Plus Extra or Deluxe/Premium subscription packages.

• Create a new PlayStation Network account;
• Login to the PS4/PS5 console, then open PlayStation Plus;
• Click the Subscribe button, then you will see three subscription options, namely Deluxe/Premium, Extra, or Essential;
• Then choose the Extra, or Deluxe/Premium package;
• Confirm your choice and then add the payment method that you will use after the trial period is up.
• After that you can use PS Plus for 7 days.

How to Cancel a PS Plus Subscription

If you don't want to be charged, after the 7 day free trial period has expired, you can cancel your subscription before the trial period ends.

To cancel your PS Plus subscription, here's how:

For PS5

Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Subscriptions > PlayStation Plus, then click Cancel Trial.

For PS4

Go to Settings > Account Management > Account Information > PlayStation Subscriptions > PlayStation Plus, then click Turn Off Auto-Renew.

This is very easy to do, but most people ignore this until their online credit or debit card ends up being charged for a subscription they forgot to cancel.
