Recalling Diablo 2

Basically, when discussing this Diablo installation, both the original and the remastered versions, there aren't too many differences. As a 'remastered' edition, of course the developer only emphasizes quality improvement without changing too many elements from the original version.

Graphics and Visuals

It's only natural that the original version has 2D graphics that look out of date when compared to today's game graphics standards. Diablo 2: Resurrected also has the same gameplay, but with improvements in terms of difficulty and balance between characters and enemies (frequent updates and balancing). This game also has extra content and new game modes that were not present in the original version.

Compatible old save file feature

Apart from the five aspects above, there is one excellent feature that is presented in the remastered edition, Vicigers! Yep, the developer has provided it with a file compatibility feature which makes the save file from the original Diablo 2 accessible again in the remastered edition!

According to interviews conducted with the developers, they buried this feature so that older players could reminisce – continuing their last adventure at Santuary.

But keep in mind, this file transfer only applies to the PC platform only. So make sure you copy your original save file to the Diablo 2: Resurrected storage folder! Only in this way can you access old characters that are still stored.

Even though it is unlikely that there will be players who still keep old files that were decades ago, this is an implied gesture that illustrates the developer's respect for this legendary installation.
