- Lunar Reaction is a sub elemental reaction, triggered by passive Moonsign Benediction and Moonwheel, moment hydro + Electro/Dendro/geo.
- All Lunar Reaction can provide crit; prioritize Crit Rate and Critical DMG compared to just Elemental Mastery.
- There are three types: Lunar-Charged, Lunar Bloom, Lunar Crystallization; Columbia can activate everything.
- This reaction produces high DMG, equal to or exceeding Melt and Vaporize; the author often uses Lunar-Charged with Flins.
Lunar Reaction Definition and Guide in Genshin Impact
Lunar Reaction or Lunar Reaction is a new elemental reaction mechanic in Genshin Impact. This reaction can be produced by characters originating from Nod-krai.
As one of the reactions that, according to the author, produces more DMG than other elemental reactions, you should definitely use this reaction. Here's a guide!

What is Lunar Reaction?

As the name suggests, the Lunar Reaction is a sub-elemental reaction. When talking about... lore, this reaction is related to borrowing the power of the moon.
Unlike normal elemental reactions that gain power through Vision, this reaction uses the Moonwheel.
Moonwheel is usually owned by a character Nod-Krai or characters who have a relationship with the Three Moon Sisters such as Zibai.
Next, we'll discuss the mechanics. This Lunar Reaction can be triggered if at least one character has the Moonsign Benediction passive.
To date, Moonsign Benediction owners like Columbia, Flins, Lauma, Nefer, Zibai, and Ineffa.
The lunar reaction itself will be triggered if there is a reaction between the Hydro element and Electro, Dendro, or Geo.
At first glance, this reaction is not much different from the Hydro reactions you are already familiar with, namely Electro-Charged (Hydro + Electro), Bloom (Hydro + Dendro), and Crystallize (Hydro + Geo).
A significant difference with Elemental Reactions is that all Lunar Reactions can deal Crit.
The character's DMG output is automatically greater than the derivative reaction. Remember, the only Hydro elemental reaction that can cause Crit is Vaporize.
A little different from build Usually, those who require Elemental Mastery, of course you have to consider the size of the Crit Rate and Crit DMG.
This certainly makes Lunar Reaction one of the elemental reactions with the greatest DMG output besides Melt (Cryo + Pyro) or Vaporize (Hydro + Pyro).
Types of Lunar Reactions
As discussed by the author previously, this reaction has 3 different types, namely:
- Lunar-Charged
- Lunar Crystallization
- Lunar Bloom
All three have different reactions, triggering methods, and needs.
Lunar-Charged

Lunar-charged is a reaction between Hydro and Electro elements, exactly like Electro-charged. The difference between the two reactions, besides the text, can be seen in the animation.
The Lunar-charged reaction is characterized by a black cloud above the enemy with lightning bolts striking every 2 – 3 seconds.
The reaction animation is different, where if Electro-Charged alone, a blue electric shock will be seen around the enemy's body.
Characters like Flins, Ineffa, and Columbina will change all Electro-Charged reactions that were previously produced from Hydro + Electro reactions to Lunar-charged.
The stats that are usually needed and will affect the amount of DMG a Lunar-Charged character can deal are ATK, Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharged, Crit DMG, and Crit Rate.
Lunar Bloom

From the name you may already know that Lunar-Bloom is a derivative of the Bloom reaction which is triggered by the reaction of the Hydro and Dendro elements.
A normal Bloom will produce a Dendro Core, a green seed-like element that will explode when given the Pyro element for Burgeon and Electro for Hyperbloom.
Meanwhile, Lunar-Bloom will produce Verdant Dew.
The animation will be different from Dendro Core, Verdant Dew will look like a thin green mist with leaves surrounding the enemy.
Verdant Dew appears thin. You can tell the active reaction is present when the Dendro Core disappears when you use Hydro + Dendro.
The characters that can activate this reaction are Lauma, Nefer, and Columbina.
Like most Dendro characters, the most important stat for increasing the DMG from this reaction is Elemental Mastery, followed by Crit DMG and Crit Rate.
Lunar Crystallization

The final variation of the Lunar Reaction is Lunar-Crystallization. As the name suggests, this reaction is a derivative of Crystallization, specifically Hydro Crystallization.
Zibai's first release used this reaction as the character's gameplay kit along with support character, namely Illuga.
Lunar-Crystallize is a reaction involving the Geo and Hydro elements. You can see this reaction activate when the three pillars in the shape of a crescent moon appear.
Uniquely, the pillar produced from Lunar-Crystallize can resonate with other Geo pillars.
For example, Geo Zhongli pillar, Geo Albedo flower, Geo Traveler pillar, and others.
Currently, the only character who can activate Lunar-Crystallize is Zibai.
You can use Columbina with other Geo characters to activate this reaction because Columbina can change Electro-Charged, Hydro Crystallize, and Bloom reactions into Lunar reactions.

According to the author, this Lunar reaction provides greater DMG results than Hexerei which was released at the same time. This is also because Hexerei itself is more of a talent bonus for existing Mondstadt characters.
Of these Lunar Reactions, which one do you use most often? I personally use Lunar-Charged because I use Flins as my DPS. Let me know your team in the comments!
