Best Dark Urge Class Guide and Build in BG3

When you are about to start playing the game Baldur's Gate 3, you will be given two options when selecting character

First you can use Tav, a special hero where you can choose his appearance, class, race, and name. As well as Origin characters who are friends you might find during your adventure.

And there is one interesting Origin character for you to use which is a combination of the two concepts, namely Dark Urge.

While he is a Dragonborn Mage by default, you can complete him completely, like Tav.

In this article, we will share the best Dark Urge build guide in BG3.

Most of the origin characters are based on party members you'll meet in the world. Baldur's Gate 3, such as Karlach, Astarion, or Wyll.

So this allows you to play the game as these characters instead of with them.

However, The Dark Urge does not have NPCs which is equivalent in other dramas. The Dark Urge will only appear in the world of Baldur's Gate 3 if you are actively playing as them.

That's why Dark Urge comes with a unique and dark background.

Despite Dark Urge's evil origins, you don't have to play him as that character all the time.

Because you can play much of The Dark Urge as a kind of redemption tale, pushing against who you should be and forging a new destiny.

Baldur's Gate 3 is very good at bending itself to suit your internal role, and that remains true for The Dark Urge characters.

Unlike other origin characters in Baldur's Gate 3, you can freely choose Dark Urge's race and class.

You don't need to play a Sorcerer as Dark Urge, but we would recommend sticking with a Charisma-based class like Sorcerer, Paladin, Bard, or Warlock.

Since these classes are all Charisma casters, damage ability is directly tied to the stat which also makes you good at talking to other characters.

Typically, Charisma casters are referred to as the face of a party, meaning they handle all of the persuasion and intimidation checks.

If you're looking for the best characters that thematically pair with Dark Urge, here are some recommendations you can use:

  • Wild Magic Sorcerer
  • The Great Old One Warlock
  • Oath of Devotion or Oathbreaker Paladin
  • College of Lore Bard
  • Trickery or Light Domain Cleric
  • Assassin Rogue

The reason why you should stick with White Dragonborn with red accents is to have a very cool and creepy appearance.

If that appearance doesn't appeal to you, then you can swap it for a scary Elf or a mean-looking Dwarf.
