Central Java PON XX Papua 2021: Representatives of Esport Athletes!

PON XX, which stands for XX National Sports Week, or currently called PON Papua 2020, is a national-level sporting event held in Papua. This National Sports Week takes place from 2 October 2021 to 15 October 2021. So, this event turned out to invite various provinces to join in, including Central Java!

Papua is the main location for holding the XX PON, to be precise at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony entirely held at that location.

PON XX was originally planned to be held in 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and finally took place in 2021.

In PON XX Papua 2021 there is a slogan that is an encouragement, namely "Torang Can!”. This slogan is a typical Papuan form of encouragement taken from a phrase in Papuan Malay which means “We Can!”.

PON XX Papua 2021 will also be the inaugural event for the new sport Esports. This esport sport joins exhibition sports.

By joining this sport, it is hoped that it will become an opportunity for the millennial community to continue to participate in national competitions to compete and bring the good name of their respective provinces.

Apart from that, the presence of esports at PON XX Papua 2021 is also a forum for PBESI (Indonesian Esport Management) to look for athletes with potential in esports across Indonesia.

Virtually PBESI conducted a press on last Wednesday 18 August 2021 regarding the esport sports branch which was demonstrating its capabilities in implementing the 2021 PON XX Papua.

Glorya Famiela as the chief executive of the 2021 PON XX Papua exhibition explained that there were four games that would compete, namely Free Fire, Mobile Legends, E-Football PES, and PUBG Mobile.

For the Central Java contingent itself, in implementing the XX Papua 2021 PON, it sent 651 players and coaches who will compete in 39 sports at the 2021 XX Papua PON. 

For esports, the Central Java contingent certainly sends athletes who are very competent in each game. Even though it is relatively new, it is hoped that in this esport sport, Central Java will be able to win medals in every game.

Free Fire

The athletes who were selected to represent the Province of Central Java to compete in pre-PON esport came from Pati Regency. Below are the names of the players Free Fire representing Central Java

E Football PES

esports athlete Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) representing Central Java in the implementation of the XX Papua 2021 PON comes from Pemalang Regency, Imam Aji Syarifudin, besides the athlete priest who passed the qualification for the PES Esport Exhibition from Central Java, Fahmi Noor Rachman from Kudus. They competed in group A with KI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java and DI Yogyakarta.

Mobile Legends

The only game in the esports branch that managed to contribute medals to Central Java is Mobile Legends.
