DAMRI

DAMRI is an abbreviation of Djawatan Angkoetan Motor Repoeblik Indonesia, a company founded to manage public transportation during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia.

Officially, DAMRI started operating in 1943 with the establishment of two companies during the Japanese occupation of Java (Java Transportation Company) for goods logistics and motorized vehicles for passengers under the name Jawa Un'yu Jigyōsha.

After Indonesian independence, the Java Transportation Company changed its name to Djawatan Pengangkoetan and the Automotive Agency changed its name to Djawatan Angkoetan Darat because both companies were taken over by the Indonesian Department of Transportation.

On November 25 1946, the two departments were merged to form "Djawatan Angkoetan Motor Repoeblik Indonesia" or abbreviated as DAMRI which was tasked with organizing land transportation by buses, trucks and motorized transportation.

Now, DAMRI is a state-owned public company (Perum) that focuses on bus services throughout Indonesia.

DAMRI serves urban transportation (Transjakarta, Transjabodetabek and Trans Bandung Raya), airport transportation, intercity transportation, interstate transportation, tourism transportation, pioneer transportation and logistics transportation.

Even now, DAMRI has a fleet of electric buses and double-decker buses as modern transportation today.

The design of all buses is very distinctive with a white base color with blue-yellow-orange stripes which are DAMRI's visual identity.
