Upgrade Purah Pad Research Lab and Get Important Facilities

Purah Pad Research Lab

In-game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Purah Pad Research Lab is the main tool that is useful for your journey in Hyrule.

To start upgrading the Purah Pad Research Lab which includes the Travel Medallion, Hero's Path, and Shrine Sensor, you must complete the questline "A Mystery in the Depths" first.

This will unlock the Hateno Village Research Lab, which is where the upgrade is located. This quest starts and ends at Lookout Landing Hyrule Field with researcher Josha.

Once you're done with Josha at Lookout Landing during the mission "A Mystery in the Depths", Robbie will appear near the balloon you just repaired and instruct you to head to East Necluda, where Hateno's Ancient Tech Lab is located.

You can teleport to Zanmik Temple to reach the village quickly. This laboratory is east of Hateno Village.

The Shrine Sensor is a tool used to locate the Shrine of Light in Hyrule. The sensor will react with a beep when you head towards the temple.

The Sensor symbol is located on the right side of the Tears of the Kingdom interface. This symbol will flash (and make sounds) more quickly as you approach the shrine.

This symbol can be activated via the map screen by clicking the Y button.

Robbie will invite you to test the Sensor by running around inside his house and then outside in Hateno Village. Follow Sensor to find out how it works.

This sensor will take you to the Mayahisik Temple, which is hidden in a cave whose entrance is blocked.

You have to blow up rocks to get in. The cave entrance is at coordinates (3741, -2085, 0208).

Then enter the cave and slide into the hole on the right, then follow the cave system to reach Mayahisik Temple at coordinates (3730, -2058, 0189). Back to Robbie and the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.

How to Get Travel Medals

After you install the Sensor, Robbie will offer to help you upgrade the Purah Pad.

Robbie will send to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab in Akkala to find a prototype Travel Medallion, which allows you to create fast travel gates anywhere.

The way to use it is to mark the current location to place the medal and create a gate.

In total, the Travel Medallion can create three gates, but needs to be upgraded to get the most out of it.

The Akkala Ancient Tech Lab is located in the upper right side of Hyrule. Mount Ulri Viewing Tower is a great spot, and you can cover long distances by paragliding from there.

Even though it's a long journey, you can use the travel time to look for shrines or monsters to fulfill Robbie's other upgrade requirements.

Once you find the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, located at coordinates (4510, 3153, 0247), get ready for battle.

Trying to enter through the door will initiate a fight against Yiga Clan enemies who shoot red projectiles, which you must dodge, then hit with your sword.

After you defeat them, enter the laboratory to meet Konba, a fashion designer, who will give you Yiga Armor.

He'll leave, then look for the chest that holds the Travel Medallion prototype.

If you want to explore, Rasiwak Temple is nearby. Once you're ready, return to Robbie in the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.

He will open medallions and start offering upgrades – 10 map data locations for the second gate and 15 for the third gate.

Now you can drop three gates, and remove and reuse medals as needed.

Hero Path provides the ability to see the exact path of a journey through Hyrule, for up to 256 hours of play.

On the map screen, press the X button to activate Hero's Path mode. And do the same to turn it off.

The buttons at the bottom of the screen let you easily toggle Hero's Path on and off, but also let you see the path unfold from the start.

Robbie will request data from 15 temples. If you have him, he will immediately take the Purah Pad and start setting everything up.

Otherwise, go and find more temples before continuing.

How to Get Sensor +

Sensor+ is like an upgraded version of the Shrine Sensor you unlocked previously – it can detect more than just shrines.

To unlock it, Robbie wants you to fill out the compendium with five different types of monsters.

You add monsters to the compendium by attracting their attention and taking photos.

Once you've gotten five different monsters there, return to Robbie in the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.

You can set Sensor+ to search for anything available in the Hyrule Compendium.

Once finished with the Purah Pad upgrade, Robbie will share his completed summary.

He is willing to sell his photos to help complete your summary.

To complete it, you can choose a category (Fauna, Enemies, Materials, Weapons, or Other) for 100 rupees, and he will choose a specific photo to give you.
