He first appeared in the manga Chapter #498 titled 'The Eleven Supernovas' and anime Episode #398 titled 'New Rivals Gather! The 11 Supernovas' in the Sabaody Archipelago Arc as one of the Supernovas present in the Sabaody Archipelago.

He appears in several Parts and Arc in stories such as the Past, namely The Tragedy of Flevance, Meeting Doflamingo and Corazon, The Search for a Cure and Corazon's Sacrifice, Beginning of the Heart Pirates, then in the Summit War Saga, namely Sabaody Archipelago Arc, Marineford Arc, Post-War Arc.

In the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, he became one of the Supernovas in Sabaody Archipelago and joined the Straw Hat Pirates during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, then saved Monkey D. Luffy at the end of the Marineford Arc and appeared in the Post-War Arc.

His past is fully revealed in a Flashback that focuses on Flevance, meeting Doflamingo and Donquixote Rosinante (Carazon), searching for a cure and forming the Heart Pirates.

In the main story, he became an important figure in the Punk Hazard, Zou and Wano Country Arc especially when he joined Monkey D. Luffy to fight Doflamingo and Kaidou.

He was also one of the Straw Hat Pirates' main allies during the Dressrosa Arc, Whole Cake Island Arc, and Wano Country Arc. He also became an ally of the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece: Stampede and One Piece Film: Red.

Like other Pirates, Trafalgar Law dreams of finding One Piece and also wants to know the purpose of the Will of D (those with the initial 'D' in the middle of their name).

Trafalgar Law is the sole survivor of Flevance, a city whose inhabitants suffer from Amber Lead Syndrome.

The disease was so contagious that Flevance was destroyed by neighboring nations for fear of infection. Trafalgar Law managed to escape the city, but unfortunately lost his family who lived there, which caused him to become a violent man.

Then he joined the Donquixote Pirates, where Donquixote Doflamingo wanted to make him his Executive Officer.

However, because of Doflamingo's brother, Donquixote Rosinante (Corazon), he was finally distanced from the influence of the Donquixote Pirates and became a Pirate who wanted to overthrow the Doflamingo Kingdom.

Ultimately, he left the group thanks to the efforts of Donquixote Rosinante (Corazon), who helped him obtain medicine and saved his life. After this incident, Trafalgar Law formed the Heart Pirates and began his journey.

As part of his plan, Trafalgar Law allied with Monkey D. Luffy to defeat Doflamingo, Kaidou, and Big Mom.

After leaving Wano Country, he and his comrades lost the battle so he was captured by Blackbeard and their ship was also destroyed.

During the timeskip, his bounty increased from 200,000,000 Belly to 440,000,000 Belly before his position was revoked from the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

After his position was revoked in the Dressrosa Arc, his bounty was reinstated and increased to 500,000,000 Belly. Finally, his bounty was increased to 3,000,000,000 Belly for defeating Big Mom and Eustass Kid during the Wano Country Arc.

Trafalgar D. Water Law is nicknamed the “Surgeon of Death” which describes Law's profession as a doctor and a dangerous pirate.

Apart from that, he also consumed the Paramecia type Ope Ope no Mi devil fruit which allows him to create a space called ROOM and manipulate anything in it.

With this ability, he can perform extraordinary operations, move objects or bodies, cut enemies without killing them and launch deadly attacks.

Below are some of the weaknesses of the Trafalgar D. Water Law in One Piece:

  • Energy Waste: Using the Ope Ope no Mi with the Awakening technique will drain his stamina faster and require a large amount of energy.
  • Get Tired Quickly: It will be difficult for him to fight at full strength after repeatedly using techniques that drain his stamina so he will have to regulate his energy.
  • High Level Haki Effects: With strong Haki that can resist or reduce the effects of devil fruits, he cannot move objects at will.
  • Difficult to Displace Strong Opponents: His Shambles ability can't teleport anyone so he has to rely on other attacks.
  • Bound to ROOM Range: Half of the Ope Ope no Mi's techniques can only affect targets within the ROOM's area. If they're out of range, he must create or place a new ROOM to attack again.
  • ROOM Cannot Be Moved Freely: The normal ROOM doesn't move with him. He must cancel and create a new ROOM if he wants to change his operating area.
  • Need Concentration: He must focus on controlling his spatial abilities. If he's distracted, he can't attack again.
  • Can't Swim: It can't swim and is weak when submerged in seawater. This weakness makes it extremely dangerous on a ship or near the sea.
  • Depends on Strategy and Tactics: He often relies on strategy, positioning, and a combination of techniques. If he fails, his opponents can easily read his movements.
