In the first exclusive interview about the game, Hudson and Lucasfilm Games Vice President and General Manager Douglas Reilly spoke with StarWars.com about the long history of Knights of the Old Republic and gave a glimpse into what we can expect from this new collaboration.

“When we developed the first Knights of the Old Republic, we wanted to create the definitive Star Wars experience—designing an adventure that encompassed everything we dreamed of as Star Wars fans,” said Hudson. 

“Now, 25 years after we began work on the game, our aspirations are just as ambitious. Fate of the Old Republic represents an opportunity to explore a contemporary vision of the definitive Star Wars experience, using cutting-edge technology and game design, along with a new story specifically designed to deliver the combination of player freedom and Star Wars immersion that is at the heart of Knights of the Old Republic.”

While Fate of the Old Republic isn't a direct sequel or continuation, “it's being developed by the people who helped shape that legacy,” Reilly added. 

“In my two decades working on Star Wars games, including Star Wars: The Old Republic, I’ve been fortunate to witness firsthand how much these stories mean to our fans. For us, this new project is about honoring that legacy by creating something in the same tradition: a game.” role-playing "Immersive, cinematic, and choice-driven.
