The iconic wild rift knockout round schedule will begin on July 1, 2022 with a single elimination best-of-five format for the quarters and semifinals. Moreover, the semifinal round will take place on July 5-6 with the top 4 teams.

The winner of each group will face the runner-up of a different group. The Wild Rift Icons Finals will be held on July 9 with a best-of-seven series.

Additionally, the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship will be played in Patch 3.2b which introduces champions Nautilus and Pyke to the game.

With 24 teams at the event, of course there are many things to watch out for. From the Horizon Cup and the competitive nature of each regional league, China still remains the territory to beat. Chinese Wild Rift League is one of two leagues with four representatives in Wild Rift Icons.

Furthermore, of the four WRL teams, FunPlus Phoenix leads as the strongest. Team China Wild Rift have won every competition they have entered since November 2021, losing only one match to JDG in the WRL finals.

Apart from China, Southeast Asia is another area to watch out for. WCS SEA remains one of the most competitive leagues throughout the season and is the second four-team region in Icons. The team includes Flash Wolves, Rex Regum Qeon, Team Flash, and Buriram United Esports.

South Korea's KT Rolster is another team to watch; the Horizon Cup semifinalists were the only team to remain consistent after the event and continue to dominate the South Korean Wild Rift scene.

Wild Rift icons schedule:

  • Play-Ins: June 14 to 18, 2022
  • Group Stage: 21 to 25 June 2022
  • Knockout: July 1 to 9, 2022

The Play-Ins and Group Stage will be played in a double elimination bracket (BO3). The Knockout will feature a single elimination bracket where the Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be played in best-of-five (BO5), and the Grand Final will be played in best-of-seven (BO7) format.

The Wild Rift Icons Global Championship begins on June 14 with the Play-In stage. This stage lasts until June 18, with 16 teams divided into four groups.

All teams will compete in a double-elimination best-of-three series, and the top two teams from each group in the Play-In stage will join the 8 teams that have already qualified for the main group stage. The 8 teams that have already qualified for the main round each end the season as champions in their respective regions.

The main group stage stage begins on June 21 and will span four days. Here, 16 teams are divided into four groups for a double elimination best-of-three series.

The group stage will not mix teams from the same Play-in group, only containing a maximum of 2 teams from the same region. The two best teams from each group will advance to the next round.

The Horizon Cup held in November 2021 was the first global event for Wild-Rift Esports, and was won by the Chinese team DKG. Only three teams (Sengoku, KT Rolster, and Team Queso) that competed in the Horizon Cup have once again made it to the Icons Championship.

FunPlus Phoenix qualified for the event by winning WRL 2022 Season 1. This team is one of the top contenders for the Icon cup.

Team Flash and Team Queso have performed well in recent months. KL Rolster and Sengoku, who finished fourth and sixth in the Horizon Cup, will try to win their first global trophy.

The Wild Rift Icons Global Championship will be streamed in multiple languages on Twitch and YouTube. Viewers who link their Riot Games account to Twitch will receive cosmetic rewards via drop during the broadcast.

The Championship will be played in three stages: Play-Ins, Group Stage, and Knockout Stage. The top eight teams from their regional tournaments qualify directly for the Group Stage, while sixteen teams qualify for the Play-Ins.

Nova Esports, a well-known name in PUBG Mobile Esports, hopes to dominate in the Wild-Rift tournament. Sentinels, a popular organization in Valorant Esports, entering the Wild Rift scene in August 2021.

The team qualified for the play-ins by securing second place in the 2022 North America Series season 1. T1, a popular esports organization around the world, will also be hoping to pick up the cup.
