Without us realizing it, after 30 years of existence in the global gaming industry, this franchise has finally entered its 10th generation. Each generation marks the franchise's evolution.
Starting from the existence of new Pokemon and their various variants, various evolutions and power ups, the presence of new starters, to entire regions with their own unique themes.
And on their anniversary this year, they also announced their newest game titled Pokemon Winds and Waves – a title that had been leaked since the last quarter of last year.
So far, they've provided several teasers in their videos about what's to come. Here, VCGamers summarizes some of the highlights:
Carrying the Theme of the Sea and Archipelago
According to leaks that have been leaked, Pokemon Winds and Waves (as the name suggests) will have a region with a very strong nautical and archipelago theme.
This is evident in the trailer, which is dominated by ocean views and coastal biomes. More specifically, the beach isn't just a beach, but rather inspired by tropical regions along the equator!
We can also see exotic ecosystems such as forests and gardens, rice terraces, volcanic caves, beautiful mountains, swamps, waterfall estuaries, etc.!
The name of this new region hasn't been announced yet. However, one thing's for sure: when it's released, it'll be a surprise that will have Pokémon fans excited!
New Starter
If there's a new region, there has to be a new starter too! Of course, they didn't miss out on this announcement. These three new Pokémon look pretty solid:
- Browt: A green bird/aves that will definitely fill the Grass Type “slot”;
- Pombon: A puppy-like Pokemon with orange fur – definitely a fire type (Fire Api);
- Gecqua: A blue lizard that will fill the water type (Water Type).
The Return of HM Dive
The trailer then shifts to reveal a sweeping view of the open ocean. And most surprisingly, the audience is then invited to dive and snorkel underwater!
The community believes that this is a confirmation that the developers will once again bring HM Dive, but with much more complex improvements.
Balanced with an open-world concept, it's projected that players will be able to explore all areas, not just on land, but also the deepest secrets of the ocean!
Platforms and Release Dates
So far the parties Pokémon Nintendo hasn't revealed much information about either of these two things. However, there are several things that are official from this first trailer.
Regarding the release date, Game Freak has only been able to announce the year, namely 2027. Meanwhile, the month and date are still a secret.
So far the trailer also states that this installation will still be a Switch 2 exclusive title. But since the release window is next year, there are still other possibilities.
Who knows, they might use that time to wait for Nintendo to release the variant that the fanbase is reportedly still waiting for: what else if not the Switch 2 lite!
