The 5 most expensive CS2 rifle skins in 2026

Prices were checked on Skinscanner.gg in August 2026 and shown in euros, as the site quotes them. Each figure is the lowest live ask across the marketplaces Skinscanner tracks. These are marketplaces like cs.money, CSFloat, BUFF163, Tradeit etc... Skin prices move constantly, so treat these as a snapshot rather than a fixed valuation.

The top of the CS2 market is a small, strange place. A handful of rifles and snipers trade for the price of a used car, and almost none of them can be obtained by playing the game any more.

This list covers the five most expensive weapon skins in 2026, ranked by their current Factory New asking price on Skinscanner, where you can see the top CS2 skin marketplaces compared side by side on a single page.

Knives and gloves are excluded here. They follow different supply rules and would fill the entire list on their own, especially at the pattern-hunting end where a single Case Hardened seed can be worth more than everything below combined.

The spread between the cheapest and most expensive listing for the same item is worth noting on its own. A Factory New Wild Lotus ranges from €12,175 to €19,259 depending on which marketplace you buy from, and a Dragon Lore from €9,421 to €15,131. At this level, comparing markets is not a way to save a few percent, it is a way to save four figures.

€12,175 Factory New. The St. Marc Collection, Operation Shattered Web, November 18, 2019.

Putting lotus flowers and green foliage on an AK-47 was a strange call for a tactical shooter, and it is now the most expensive AK finish of the 59 that exist. Wild Lotus never appeared in a weapon case. It dropped only through Operation Shattered Web's reward system, and when the operation closed in early 2020 the supply stopped there permanently.

Its float range runs the full 0.00 to 1.00, so it exists in every wear condition. What separates it from most Coverts is how it degrades. Wild Lotus uses a Custom Paint Job finish, which Valve's own workshop documentation describes as wearing directly to the substrate. Abrasions start on the magazine even in Factory New and spread as the float climbs, and the whole weapon darkens along the way.

That has a clear effect on pricing. Battle-Scarred copies are the cheapest tier at roughly a quarter of the Factory New ask, so the low-float end is where the money is concentrated. Skinscanner currently shows 14 Factory New listings across the markets it tracks, which tells you most of what you need to know about liquidity here. This is not an item you sell in an afternoon.

AWP | Gungnir

€9,925 Factory New. The Norse Collection, Operation Shattered Web, 18 November 2019.

Gungnir came out of the same operation as Wild Lotus, on the same day, from a different collection. Valve's in-game description reads: "Odin's spear travels down this custom painted pearlescent blue and ivory AWP." The spear is painted, not engraved, and it runs the length of a pale blue body broken up by ivory Norse knotwork.

The float ceiling is 0.60 rather than 1.00, which still leaves room for all five wear conditions since Battle-Scarred starts at 0.45. Scratching shows clearly on the body as the float rises, which pushes demand hard toward the clean end.

Supply is capped and generally estimated in the low thousands, though Valve has never published a figure and you should treat any specific number you see as an estimate rather than a fact. The Factory New market sits at 16 listings on Skinscanner, spread across a €9,925 to €15,431 range.

One thing worth flagging for anyone shopping at this level: sub-0.01 float Factory New Gungnirs trade far above the general FN price, in some cases at multiples of it. The headline number describes an ordinary FN copy, not a top-tier one.

AWP | Dragon Lore

€9,421 Factory New. The Cobblestone Collection, Operation Breakout, 1 July 2014.

The most famous skin in Counter-Strike, and the only one on this list with a genuine cultural footprint outside the game. Valve's description is understated to the point of comedy: "It has been custom painted with a knotwork dragon." The flavour text does more work. "200 keys could never unlock its secrets."

Dragon Lore never came from a case. Normal copies dropped as map drops while playing Cobblestone during Operations Breakout, Bloodhound, Wildfire and Hydra. Souvenir copies came from souvenir packages at Majors played on Cobblestone, and that tap closed at ELEAGUE Major Boston in January 2018. Cobblestone left the Active Duty map pool a few months later, in April 2018, and competitive matchmaking entirely in 2019.

The May 2026 update introduced the Souvenir-O-Matic, allowing normal skins to be converted into Souvenir versions. This has changed the market by making the supply of Souvenir skins more flexible, as existing normal skins can now be converted into new Souvenir variants. As a result, Souvenir Dragon Lores are no longer limited to the existing supply.

Normal Dragon Lores can still be created through the Cobblestone Collection's trade-up route. Ten Classified Cobblestone skins, most notably the M4A1-S | Knight, can be traded up into the collection's only Covert, the AWP | Dragon Lore. The economics are terrible, since ten Knights cost multiples of a finished Factory New Dragon Lore, but the mechanic remains live.

The update also made Souvenir skins eligible as trade-up inputs, removing their Souvenir attributes in the process. This means Souvenir Cobblestone skins can now also be consumed in Dragon Lore trade-ups.

At the same time, the ability to create new Souvenir skins has made specific, desirable signatures even more important. Signatures from iconic players or highly sought-after matches can give otherwise identical Souvenir Dragon Lores a significant premium, creating another layer of scarcity and value within the market.

M4A4 | Howl

€5,535 Factory New. Huntsman Weapon Case, May 2014.

The only Contraband skin in Counter-Strike history, and the only item on this list whose value comes from a legal dispute rather than a drop rate.

The original wolf artwork was a piece called "Aggression" by the Finnish artist CanisAlbus, submitted to the Steam Workshop by two users who did not own it. Both were permanently banned from the Workshop and stripped of their revenue. In June 2014 Valve repainted the skin in place on every existing copy using in-house art, pulled it from the Huntsman case, and assigned it the Contraband tier that no other item has ever received. The Howl you see in game today is Valve's replacement, not the original.

Its float caps at 0.40, which means Battle-Scarred does not exist and Well-Worn occupies a sliver from 0.38 to 0.40. Four conditions, a hard supply ceiling, and no way to ever make another one.

StatTrak Howls exist and sit well above the normal versions in Factory New. Lower StatTrak wears are considerably more accessible than most guides suggest, so if you want the StatTrak counter without the Factory New premium, that is where to look.

AWP | Medusa

€3,628 Factory New. The Gods and Monsters Collection, Operation Bloodhound, 26 May 2015.

The gorgon AWP is the quiet one on this list. Valve's description: "It has been custom painted with the image of a gorgon." The flavour text is one of the better ones in the game. "If you can see me, you're already dead."

Medusa dropped only to Operation Bloodhound Access Pass holders between May and October 2015. It was never in a case, and there is no StatTrak version. Souvenir Medusas were impossible until the May 22, 2026 update, which replaced random souvenir drops with the Souvenir-O-Matic and made crafted souvenirs possible from any eligible non-StatTrak skin.

The float range is the full 0.00 to 1.00 and the wear behaves unusually. Instead of chipping to bare metal, high-float Medusas develop a green patina across the artwork, which the community calls the Green Witch. It is one of the few cases where a heavily worn copy has a following of its own rather than just being the cheap way in.

The Factory New market is thin, with 15 listings across a €3,628 to €4,560 spread.

Other candidates for most expensive CS2 Skins

Three skins sit close enough to be worth naming, and two of them illustrate a pricing quirk most players get backwards.

AK-47 | Hydroponic, The Rising Sun Collection, Operation Bloodhound 2015. Factory New from €3,308. A bamboo motif in metallic paint, Classified rather than Covert, and another Access Pass drop that never touched a case. The pattern index shifts where the bamboo branches sit, which creates a small collector market within the skin.

M4A1-S | Knight, The Cobblestone Collection 2014. Minimal Wear from €3,212.

Note the wear listed for those last two. On both skins, Minimal Wear costs more than Factory New, which inverts the usual rule.

What actually moves prices at this level

Two mechanics explain most of the movement at the top of the market.

Float value and pattern

Float is a number between 0.00 and 1.00 assigned at creation that determines how worn a skin looks, running from Factory New at 0.00 to 0.07 through to Battle-Scarred at 0.45 to 1.00. The scale is theoretical, though. Each skin has its own cap, which is why Howl stops at 0.40 and Hot Rod at 0.08. On expensive items the gap between a 0.01 and a 0.06 Factory New can run into thousands, not hundreds. Pattern index matters just as much on certain finishes. Case Hardened blue gems and high Fade percentages trade at a steep premium over standard rolls, because there the pattern is the collectible rather than the weapon.

Trade-up contracts

The standard contract combines ten items of one rarity tier into a single item of the next tier up, drawn from the collections of the inputs. That is the mechanic keeping the M4A1-S Knight expensive. In October 2025 Valve added a separate contract that turns five Covert skins into a knife or gloves, which ended the era of knives being scarce purely because they dropped at 0.26%. Generic knives fell hard in the weeks that followed. What did not fall was the collector end, since trade-ups produce random floats and patterns and cannot manufacture a one-of-one seed.

That split is the single most useful thing to understand about the 2026 market. Supply that can be manufactured behaves like a commodity. Supply that cannot, which is every skin on this list, behaves like a collectible.
