Without further ado, let's get straight to the main discussion, namely the summary of the MLBB MSC 2025 EWC Group Stage for the second day.
The event now moves to Group B, which is also filled with various teams with varied demographics, ranging from reigning world champions to debutants.
And of course, things get even more exciting with the Indonesian delegation! As a reminder, this quarterfinal match will still be a Best of 3 (Bo3) format, just like the first day.
Simply put, the first team to win two games advances to the upper bracket semifinals. The loser will compete once again in the lower bracket.
Team Flash (FLSG) vs. HomeBois (HB)
In the first match, FLSG, the MPL Singapore representative, faced off against the runner-up of their neighboring country, HB. Despite their experience, both teams are considered "dark horses" at this year's MSC.
In the opener, FLSG managed to take the lead in game #1 with a score of 17-4. However, Lancelot HB jungler Eymall was unstoppable in game #2: giving them a 16-5 victory.
In game #3, FLSG initially nearly secured victory. However, a blunder in the 18th minute allowed HB to stage a comeback, winning 10-16 over FLSG.
Req Regum Qeon (RRQ) vs. Area 77 (A77)
And in the second match in the group stage match, it featured a match between representatives from Indonesia and the runner-up of MPL ID, RRQ! This time they met representatives from North America, namely A77!
In game #1, the tempo of both teams was quite slow. However, as one of the strongest teams in MPL Indonesia, it's no surprise that RRQ performed brilliantly, winning 8-5.
In game #2, RRQ continued to demonstrate its dominance over the Smurf League team, closing the match early (13-3). As a result, RRQ secured a 2-0 clean sweep over A77.
ONIC Philippines (ONPH) vs. Aurora Turkey (AUR)
Next, there was a match that made people gasp in amazement because of its unpredictable final result: ONPH representing the Philippines, and AUR from the Türkiye MLBB League.
In game #1, AUR played aggressively until the end, outscoring ONPH by a score of 10-24. Reluctant to give up an easy match, ONPH gained momentum in game #2 (19-9).
But the former M6 champions were forced to bow down to the European league team's sustain-crowd control meta. After a narrow 14-12 loss in game #3, AUR advanced to the upper bracket semifinals!
Team Spirit (TS) vs. DianFengYaoGuai (DFYG)
And the final match for the second day brought together two other “underdog” teams, namely TS as the representative of the Russian plains league, and the representative from China: DFYG.
As a division of a team with a long history in the esports world, it's no surprise that TS was able to put on a brilliant performance. This was evident in their 2-0 win without reply.
In game #1, TS defeated DFYG with a final score of 17-2. Meanwhile, in game #2, DFYG put up some resistance, but ultimately fell 22-9.
