General Guidelines: Content Writer

General guide to content writing

Determining the Writing Angle

Angle is a writer's point of view when looking at the problem he is going to write about.

Here are tips for determining the writing angle:

  • Determining the Angle of the Issue Discussed

The writing angle can be built based on the issue to be written. From one topic, it can be seen from various points of view, so that it can produce different writing.

For example, an internet cafe is always busy and in demand.

  • Writer A can write about the advantages of this internet cafe compared to other internet cafes so that it can sell well;
  • Author B wrote about the turnover generated from the internet cafe;
  • Meanwhile, writer C can write about the way customers and guards communicate at the internet cafe which can make customers feel at home for a long time.
  • Determining the Angle of Other People's Glasses

Content writers can also write content using someone else's perspective or POV. For example, writing about smartphone problems that heat up quickly from the perspective of other users.

So that when the audience reads the article, they will feel or feel what the other user feels.

However, to support the suitability of the data you have, you should have data about this matter, not all of it from personal assumptions.

  • Determining Angle Based on Experience

As a content writer, experience can also help determine the writing angle.

Usually writing based on experience will tend to be more flowing and matter-of-fact.

  • Determining Angle Based on Research

Research results usually have valid data. So, from the research carried out, a content writer can also determine the point of view when writing articles.

  • Determining Angle Based on a Theoretical Approach

This kind of writing will usually take theories as the main reference in determining the angle. To write game or tech & gadget articles, this writing angle is very rarely used.

Create a Content Outline

Here are several ways to create a content outline:

  • Determine the Theme and Title

Beginner writers must pay attention to several things when determining a theme. Here's how to determine the theme of your writing:

  • Don't choose a theme that is too broad;
  • Choose a theme that you like and can develop;
  • Choose a theme whose sources or materials can be easily obtained.
  • Gathering Materials

There are many sources that can be used as material, the easiest way to find them is to search on the internet or e-books.

Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, so it depends on the comfort and needs of each writer.

  • Sorting Materials

After collecting the materials, so that they are not too biased and abstract, the author needs to sort the materials that will be used according to the theme of the discussion.

You must clarify the level of urgency for the material that has been collected carefully and systematically. Here's how:

  • Note important things;
  • Make reading a necessity.
  • Lots of discussions with friends/relatives/interlocutors who have more knowledge about the material you are writing about.
  • Create Outlines

The outline is a small note that can be changed at any time with the aim of reaching the perfect stage.

After everything is collected, the content writer needs to arrange it step by step so that the initial goal in writing is not lost or expanded along the way.

The outline will describe each topic or problem into several more focused and measurable discussions.

Create an Attractive Title and Intro

The title of the article is an important part, because it is the first thing readers see.

A content writer must be able to create a good title, so that it can attract the attention of potential readers to increase website traffic.

Based on data, only 2 out of 10 people continue reading an article after reading the title.

This means that 80% people only read the title, without reading the entire contents of the article. Don't fail to convince readers because the title is less interesting.

Ending Content with a CTA

After completing an article that is interesting to readers, a content writer must create a CTA sentence to invite readers to take the desired action.

To create a strong CTA sentence, writers need to consider three elements, namely benefits, urgency, and simplicity.

After that, the writer must create a CTA sentence that is firm and full of confidence, the aim of which is to convince the reader.

To do that, a content writer needs to use strong and positive language, avoid unimportant words, and emphasize keywords.

Editing Content

Audiences or readers need to be treated to interesting and reliable reading to grab readers' attention amidst the abundance of information on the internet.

A content writer must start from research to confirm the facts of the information presented, maintain the accuracy and depth of the article.

So that the articles written become more interesting and have a good impact on readers.

Apart from that, content writers must choose appropriate and relevant photos or illustrations.

And the content writer's task will be considered complete if the article created has become more interesting, sharper and easier to understand.
