2024 FIFA World Cup: Teams and Match Format

World Cup FIFAe 2024 will be the 19th event organized by FIFA. And this year's event is the first edition after FIFA and Electronic Arts (EA) ended their collaboration in 2023.

In the 2024 edition, a total of 16 FIFA member associations will participate in this championship.

2024 FIFAe World Cup Participating Teams

The participating teams have been confirmed, with a total of 16 participating teams consisting of Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, England, France, Germany, Morocco, the Netherlands, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, and the United States.

Each country will select three representatives for the tournament plus one substitute.

The Format Used for the 2024 FIFAe World Cup

The tournament is divided into a group stage and a knockout stage which will take place on the final day. 

The group stage will last four days and players will be drawn into groups to represent one country. 

A knockout stage with the best four players will be played in fantasy draft mode.

Group Stage

The competition begins with a group stage in which 20 players, nominated by the various Member Associations (MAs), including a second pair from the host country, will manage the same club in groups of five players. 

This round emphasizes long-term managerial strategy over several seasons. Players are evaluated and ranked based on league position, cup progress and managerial rating. 

Each club is formed identically to ensure equal starting conditions.

• Day 1 (Pre-Season): On August 28, players configure their clubs and prepare for the first match.
• Day 2 (Season 1): On August 29, the players led their clubs through the first season, completing it in three sessions, each three hours long.
• Day 3 (Season 2): On August 30, the second season followed the same format.
• Day 4 (Season 3): On August 31, the third season ended after the final match.

Last Day (September 1)

The four group winners advance to the final day, where they will compete in a Fantasy Draft format. 

They will draft up to 25 players for their final squad, competing in a two-legged semi-final and a two-legged final to determine the FIFAe World Champion featuring Football Manager. 

This stage focuses on tactical skills in a high-pressure studio setting.
