Facts and Real Identity of Welt Yang in the Honkai Universe
Some players may be familiar with this character, Welt Yang, in Honkai Impact 3rd. Others may know him as Mr. Yang in the game. Honkai Star Rail.
This character, appearing in two games by Mihoyo, is unique because it's the only character that isn't a lookalike, copy, or expiry, but rather its own persona. Unique, right?

Real Identity
Born with the real name Joachim Nokianvirtanen, this character was a Herrscher of Reason in the previous era, before Bronya replaced him in the Honkai universe.
Young Joachim was born into a circle of researchers and scientists, as his parents, Elias Nokianvirtanen and Heinrich Yang, were scientists. His father, nicknamed Finn, was a scientist from Shicksal.
It is no wonder that his childhood was spent in an academic environment and he became close friends with various other scientists such as Frederica Nikola Tesla and Lieserl Albert Einstein.
Welt Joyce, which is Herrscher first and became the subject of Shicksal's experiments and also became Joachim's role model while growing up in Shicksal.
Reasons for Changing the Name to Welt Yang
Little Joachim spent more time with his father at Shicksal in the North American branch.
His mother, Heinrich Yang, was too busy with her business to spend much time with her family.
After it was discovered that his father, Finn, was forced to sabotage the Shicksal branch because Otto Apocalpyse, the leader of Shicksal, threatened Joachim's life.
Otto who found out about the plan killed everyone including Finn and Joyce.
Joachim then changed his identity to Welt Yang, taking the name “Welt” from Welt Joyce and “Yang” from his mother's family name.
Became Herrscher and Chair of Anti-Entropy
Joachim, upon the death of Welt Joyce, took the Core of Reason that Welt Joyce possessed and became the next Herrscher of Reason.
To hide from the target Otto, Joachim changed his appearance to Welt Joyce by using the power of the Core of Reason.
This identity remained hidden by the new Herrscher of Reason until the 2nd Eruption. Welt also became the leader of Anti-Entropy, continuing what Welt Joyce and her father had done.
Anti-entropy operates in secret and is often considered terrorists by Shicksal, although both organizations share the same goal: to combat the Honkai.
For those of you who are not familiar with Honkai Impact 3rd, Shicksal is basically an organization that aims to fight Honkai to prevent the world from being destroyed.
Shicksal and Anti-entropy share the same goal but use different methods. Shicksal uses Valkyries, female warriors, to eradicate the Honkai.
Anti-entropy dislikes Schicksal's approach of sacrificing humans to become soldiers. They use robots, machines, or Mecha to fight the Honkai.
After becoming Herrscher and the leader of Anti-entropy, of course Welt is busy with the Honkai attack.
Welt also has an adopted son named Joey, whom you meet in the story of the game A Post Honkai Odyssey which is still part of Honkai Impact 3rd.
Before leaving, Welt also left the Core of Reason to Bornya Honkai Impact 3rd who is his protégé and also
However, Bronya returned the Core of Reason to Welt after she obtained the Core of Truth.
Thus, Welt still possesses Herrscher powers upon arriving on the Honkai Star Rail, remaining youthful and a powerful warrior with the power of the Herrscher Core and the Star of Eden.
Adventure and Become Nameless on the Astral Express
At some point, Mr. Yang felt his mission was complete. This mecha enthusiast eventually joined the Void Archive (who imitated Otto Apocalypse's form) and set off into the galaxy to prevent an alien invasion of Earth.
Armed with the Star of Eden (Divine Key, a weapon in Honkai Impact 3rd that originates from the core of a Herrscher), Mr. Yang sets out into space by infiltrating an alien ship.
Until finally, he meets Himeko and the Astra Express to join him on his nameless journey. So, Mr. Yang in Honkai Impact 3rd is the same character from Honkai Star Rail.
