Resident Evil Games Chronologically

The list of Resident Evil games in order in this article is made by focusing on the 11 main games along with two spin-off titles.

Some titles not included in this article are smartphone games, pachinko, and non-canon games like Resident Evil Gaiden.

Resident Evil 0

As the fifth installment, Resident Evil 0 is actually the first game in the franchise's chronological order.

The game is set before the events of Resident Evil with characters from STARS (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) medical personnel named Rebecca Chambers and former marine, Billy Coen.

Both of them managed to uncover important information about the main antagonists of this game series, namely Albert Wesker and William Birkin.

RE 0 also presents a story about the beginnings of the Umbrella Corporation and the deadly T-Virus they created.

Resident Evil

The Resident Evil story takes place after Resident Evil 0. In this game, you will play as one of two STARS agents, Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine.

Your main task is to investigate a series of murders that occurred in the forest area outside Raccoon City.

This game will reveal important information about the Umbrella Corporation and their research on biological mutations with the T-Virus.

Resident Evil 2

Set two months after RE 1, Resident Evil 2 introduces two new protagonists: a new police officer, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield (sister of Chris Redfield).

You will also meet again with the character Ada Wong and one of the iconic villains of this franchise, Tyrant.

Here, we will learn more about William Birkin and his much more dangerous creation, the G-Virus.

Resident Evil 3

Chris Redfield will also return as the game's secondary protagonist. His goal remains the same: to find his missing brother.

Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 is arguably the most beloved game in the series. Here, you'll once again play as Leon Kennedy, six years after the events of RE 2 in Raccoon City.

This time, Leon is on a mission to go to a remote village in Spain to save the son of the president of the United States.

In that terrifying place, Leon meets a mysterious cult group that is connected to a mind-controlling parasite.

Resident Evil Revelations

The timeline of this game takes place between RE 4 and RE 5. Resident Evil Revelations tells the story of another consequence of Umbrella's development of biological weapons.

Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield are now members of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA). The two traveled to the Mediterranean region to combat a new variant of the T-Virus.

Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil is set 5 years after RE 4. As a member of the BSAA, Chris Redfield flies to Africa with his new partner, Sheva Alomar to prevent the illegal sale of biological weapons.

The Kijuju people, it turns out, have been infected by the mind-controlling parasite from RE 4 which is now much more deadly.

This game has a broader storyline than previous Resident Evil games. Players will also learn about Albert Wesker's latest evil plan.

Resident Evil Revelations 2

The setting of Resident Evil Revelations 2 takes place between RE 5 and 6. You will once again play as Claire Redfield, who is the main protagonist for the first time since Code Veronica.

Resident Evil 6
