Gyokko is an Upper Moon Rank 5 demon who, alongside Hantengu, is one of the main antagonists in the Swordsmith Village arc. His appearance is very distinctive, with his pale white, armless humanoid body always emerging from a porcelain vase.

Her face is very unusual, with two mouths in place of her eyes, while her real eyes are actually on her forehead. Her lower body is missing, completely hidden inside the vase, while her back is covered with many small hands.

Before becoming a demon, Gyokko lived as a fisherman named Managi with a morbid obsession with art and fish corpses. After nearly being killed by a child who mocked his artwork, he was saved by Muzan Kibutsuji and transformed into a highly dangerous Upper Moon demon.

Here are the most interesting facts about Gyokko that you should know.

Her Neck is Harder than Diamond

Gyokko possesses incredible physical strength, particularly in its neck, which is even harder than diamond. Muichiro Tokito himself needed a great deal of effort to cut Gyokko's neck, even after mastering his demon slayer mark.

Its body is also covered in special scales that serve as additional protection against enemy attacks. The combination of its diamond-hard neck and this layer of scales makes Gyokko one of the most difficult demons to eliminate, even among its Upper Moon counterparts.

A Very Perverse Obsession With Art

Gyokko considered himself the greatest artist ever and regularly showed off his work to anyone he met. His work was not ordinary painting or sculpture, as he used the corpses and sewn-together bodies of his victims as his artistic medium.

Able to Move from One Vase to Another

One of Gyokko's unique abilities is to instantly move from one porcelain vase to another, which she has prepared in advance in various locations. This ability to teleport between vases makes her extremely difficult to attack directly, as she can always disappear and reappear from unexpected directions.

Blood Demon Art Based on Water and Demon Fish

Gyokko's Blood Demon Art allows her to create demonic fish that attack enemies and poison anyone they sting. The venom of these demonic fish is extremely dangerous and can slowly paralyze victims even if they continue fighting.

Gyokko's True Form is Much More Dangerous

When in dire straits, Gyokko unleashes her true form, which is very different from her appearance inside the vase. Her true form resembles a giant fish, with a body covered in thick scales and a movement speed far exceeding her normal form.

In this true form, Gyokko's attacks become extremely unpredictable as his strange body allows him to attack from angles that are nearly impossible for other demons.

Defeated by the Youngest Hashira in History

Gyokko was ultimately defeated by Muichiro Tokito, then the youngest Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps' history. This defeat shocked many, as Muichiro had to fight alone against the Upper Moon 5 without the assistance of any other Hashira.

His real name is Managi and he has a dark story before becoming a demon.

Before becoming a demon, Gyokko was a fisherman named Managi, known for his morbid behavior and obsession with fish corpses and deviant art. This obsession existed before he met Muzan and did not arise after his transformation into a demon.

Managi killed a child who mocked his artwork and nearly died after the child's parents stabbed him with a fisherman's spear. Muzan, who happened to find Managi in his dying state, decided to save him and turned him into a demon.
