4 Luffy's Enemies Who Lost Because of Plot Armor

Throughout 1150 chapters One Piece manga, of course there are various enemies Luffy managed to defeat. And many of them had to fall because they were "hit" by the armor plate.

As a “privilege” for the protagonist, this is indeed a natural thing. Now for those who are curious about what plot armor is and who the enemies are who fell because of it, let’s just check it out!

What is Plot Armor?

Before going to the main discussion, it would be good if VCGamers explained about the plot armor first. That way, you all can understand the concept in question.

Plot armor itself is a term in the world of literature and story writing, where the author provides a kind of "protection" to various protagonist characters.

This comes in many forms, from the smooth running of an adventure, to the success of a mission/quest, to the most obvious, assured victory.

Specifically for the latter, the general term is “deus ex machina”, a plot armor that appears at a critical moment, and its appearance turns a desperate situation around.

One real example of this can certainly be seen in the Gear 5 phenomenon. If Eiichiro Oda If he doesn't show up, it's very likely that Luffy will be "finished" at Onigashima.

But that doesn't mean the author just used it in that arc. There have been many similar plot armors that have appeared when the protagonist fought overpowered (OP) enemies.

Yes, it is okay to use plot armor – after all, it is the author’s prerogative. However, if it is too “deviant”, it is not impossible that fans will be reluctant to just follow suit.

So, after understanding about plot armor, let's go straight to the main discussion, namely about Luffy's four enemies who were defeated instantly because of the existence of plot armor.

In this discussion, VCGamers only provides a few of them whose defeats feel quite odd and worthy for fans to question. Here is the review:

Enel

Luffy's enemy who is titled "God" will be in fourth place: Enel! Initially, his defeat at Luffy's hands was a reasonable and legitimate phenomenon.

But that all changed when Oda Sensei overhauled his own “status quo.” If Luffy’s DF wasn’t a rubber Paramecia, how could he be immune to Enel’s attacks?

Katakuri

In third place is Big Mom's son and right-hand man, Charlotte Katakuri. This character with a bounty of >1M Berry is so strong that only Luffy has ever defeated him.

His defeat was also “odd”. Instead of being seriously injured, he just seemed to give in: he collapsed for no reason after hearing Luffy’s words. How is it similar to Naruto’s “Lecture No Jutsu”?

Kaidou

In second place is the villain from the last major arc (Wano-Onigashima), Kaidou, The King of Beasts. This character's defeat really seemed forced.

If only Luffy hadn't "suddenly" awakened his Gear 5, this Yonkō with his overly OP power shouldn't have been defeated that easily...

Gorosei (St. Jaygarcia Saturn)

And the first entry comes from one of the newest arcs, namely Gorosei , especially St. Jaygarcia Saturn. Indeed, so far this arc has been going on, luffy never fight them alone.

However, the fact that the projection of the four world leaders + Saturn itself was successfully "defeated" by the Mugiwara crew (thanks Emet!), this is really pure plot armor.
