History of the Steam Controller

The latest? Has Steam ever released a similar peripheral? Yes, not many Indonesian gamers are aware that Valve has released a controller before.
So far, the concept hasn't changed much: to provide gaming hardware that can support both PC and console gamers. That's why the design is so unique.
Unlike most controllers that only rely on a combination of sticks (analog) and buttons, this product from Valve also includes a dual track pad!
Its goal was to allow PC gamers to temporarily break their mouse dependence. Unfortunately, due to a lack of momentum, this product failed in the market.
But that doesn't mean they were complete failures! From that failure, they learned a lot and built a portfolio. This then paid off handsomely when the Steam Deck era arrived.
While maintaining the original concept of the Steam Controller, they have finally succeeded in engineering a console-based control combination that is full of gaming feel on PC!
This aspect is also what made the Steam Deck so successful. The results were immediately apparent: it made Valve more confident about reviving its peripheral lineup.

Price and Release Date

Until now, Valve, as the owner of the Steam trademark, has not provided a price tag or a definite date regarding their official scheme when it is later on the market.
So far, Valve has only set a release window for 2026. However, they promise that the price tag will be "competitive."
However, if we look at the initial release price of the first generation, Steam Controllers The latest one could be priced at around USD 50 or around IDR 830K (November exchange rate).
If true, then the price is certainly considered ideal – especially if we compare it with other brand controllers which are generally in the price range of USD 60-70 (IDR 1-1.1 million).
