Meet Caleb Love and Deepspace, the Handsome Colonel

Caleb's character in the world of Love and Deepspace makes the atmosphere even more mysterious and intriguing.

His presence as one of the characters in Love and Deepspace can make the Main Character (MC) nervous and wonder about who he really is.

Caleb is one of the fifth Love Interests in Love and Deepspace which was released on January 22, 2025 in version 3.0 Cosmic Encounter Part 2.

Caleb was born on June 13th and is now 25 years old, he is a Farspace Fleet's Colonel for the Farspace Fleet who previously worked as a DAA Fighter Pilot.

He has many secrets that cause clashes between him and MC, but he is determined to do whatever it takes to protect MC.

Initially, he only appeared as a cameo in a scene related to the MC's family and home life.

There, Caleb and MC grew up together as foster brothers raised by Grandma Josephine, after they both became orphans due to a major event called the Chronorif Catastrophe.

One night, they were having dinner together, and then there was an explosion at Josephine's house.

The explosion killed Grandma Josephine and Caleb.

Since then, MC has been trying to find out the mastermind behind this incident and why he had to target his family.

After that, Caleb did not appear again until version 3.0: Homecoming Wings which was released in January 2025.

In this arc, the MC carries out a secret mission to a district called Skyhaven and enters a mysterious organization called Farspace Fleet which is based there to patrol the outer space area, Deepspace Tunnel.

MC is shocked to learn that the new Fleet colonel (Farspace Fleet's Colonel) is Caleb, his biological brother who is still alive after the explosion at his house.

However, Caleb doesn't want to talk about his supposed death, and he left his dream job as a DAA Fighter Pilot to work for Farspace Fleet's Colonel. Despite his mysterious nature, he's still happy to meet MC.

He and MC are adopted siblings. It turns out he's had feelings for MC since childhood, but he tries to hide it from everyone. However, his protective nature is still often seen, even becoming more possessive of MC.

One of the canon interactions between Love Interests in Love and Deepspace even shows that Caleb once prevented Zayne from approaching the MC when they were students.

After the reunion at Skyhaven, Caleb's possessive and obsessive side towards MC emerges.

From MC's memories of their childhood, Caleb was the most popular kid in the neighborhood.

Apart from being a physical fighter, he is also a good cook and is even called the 'perfect chef'.

The signature mop necklace he always wears along with his dogtags was a gift from MC that was returned to him after he was presumed dead.

When they meet again, Caleb jokes that MC “gave the same gift twice”.

In the side story, it is said that Caleb experienced severe trauma during his pilot trainee days.

Because his psychological test results were considered suspicious by his superiors, he almost failed.

But he was forced to join the Deepspace Tunnel for a flight test and there he was lost in an unfamiliar area for a week and almost died there.

After he returned, his physical condition recovered quickly, but his mental state was still disturbed by nightmares and loss of consciousness.

Because of that, he had to take strong sedatives which carried the risk of addiction.

From that incident too, he didn't actually graduate from the Pilot Academy and he joined the Farspace Fleet's Colonel early.

Flashback to the lore, Caleb and MC were used as guinea pigs by the EVER Corporation after the Chronorift Crisis.

The two characters are coded Subject 001 and Subject 002 because they have strong and unique Evol skills.

However, they were both saved and raised by Grandma Josephine who was formerly a scientist at the EVER Corporation.

Grandma Josephine felt guilty towards the two of them so she decided to save them both.

MC who lost all his past memories due to the regenerative Evol skill which made him forget every time he died and came back to life.

However, Caleb still remembers everything including the suffering when he was still an experiment subject.

Therefore, he is determined to protect MC no matter what happens after the explosion at his house that killed Grandma Josephine and injured him.

His desire to protect MC, turns into an excessive obsession.

In the main story, their relationship becomes increasingly tense and complex, as Caleb controls and isolates MC to keep her safe.

MC finally reprimanded him because he didn't want to be too restrained by Caleb and he still wanted to be free.

This conflict is what makes their relationship not good, especially in the main story.

In the side stories (date side stories), their relationship is very romantic, just like the other love interests.

There are several moments that show their past and the history of their relationship in the story.

Caleb's possessive nature towards MC has been ingrained since childhood, but after the explosion, he became over-protective.

In the Homecoming Wings update, it was revealed that after the explosion, he was still alive because he was saved by Professor Lucius, the mysterious scientist who saves people by bionically altering their bodies.

Caleb's right arm, specifically below the elbow, has been replaced with a mechanical hand. He also has a Toring Chip, a device that can automatically erase or rewrite parts of his memories and personality when he's stressed or angry.

Caleb realized that the effects of the chip would worsen over time until he completely lost his senses and emotions.

So, now Caleb lives with the burden of his desire to protect MC, guilt over the past and the worry that one day he won't be himself anymore.

Caleb's Appearance and Personality

Caleb is a 25-year-old young man with a height of 188 cm, has brunette hair, purple eyes and a friendly face.

Usually, Caleb wears casual outfits like a black and orange DAA pilot jacket or a casual top with trousers and black boots.

In the story, Caleb is a kind, friendly, protective and happy virus.

Due to her appearance and personality, she is very popular among her peers and has many secret admirers.

After the explosion at his house and making him a DAA Fighter Pilot, he turned into an obsessive and possessive person towards MC which he had been hiding while living together.

As a DAA Fighter Pilot, he is a cold, calculating and highly respected figure in the Farspace Fleet.

He also will not hesitate to kill and use his Gravity Evolution to make others submit to him.

Caleb will also threaten someone's life especially when it comes to the MC's safety or his position in the Farsapace Fleet.

Caleb's skills in Love and Deepspace

Caleb's skills in Love and Deepspace include the following:

Particle Beam

Caleb can kick the enemy, jump up and fire a Particle Beam at the target, dealing DMG equal to 284+151% ATK+599% DEF and recovering 5 [Firepower].

For the strengthened Particle Beam will increase DMG to 392+209% ATK+828% DEF.

Deep Strike

MC and Caleb summon an air combat unit to launch an air strike on the target, dealing DMG equal to 245+131% ATK+519% DEF and 2 [Protocore DMG].

This attack creates a [Battlefront] across the entire battle zone. Caleb gradually consumes [Firepower] to maintain it for 15 seconds.

In [Battlefront], [Deep Strike] is replaced by [Ground Breach]. The final hit of a basic attack grants 1 [Focus] mark up to 3 marks.

[Focus] increases the damage dealt by [Ground Breach]. [Firepower] cannot be recovered while in [Battlefront].

[Ground Breach]: MC and Caleb will set up a sniper position, dealing DMG equal to 512+273% ATK+1082% DEF to enemies within range.

The first [Focus] mark will increase damage by 40%. Each subsequent mark will increase damage by 20%.

Total Blockade

MC and Caleb will lock the entire perimeter and summon a new one in the air to do a full sweep and deal DMG with a total of 1440+780% ATK+3060% DEF.

Combat Guidance

Each hit from MC's basic attack will restore 1 [Firepower]. The final attack restores 2 [Firepower]. The [Firepower] is capped at 100.

Once full, MC can use [Deep Strike] and use it or [Ground Breach] to restore 0.3 [Energy Charges]. The duration of Enemy Weakness status can be extended to 2 seconds.

You must complete Episode 3 of Vanishing Skyward, Vanishing Skyward – Emphatic Interrogation.
After the episode is over, you will receive a notification that you can interact with Caleb through the Deepspace Cafe, Memories, Dates, the player's Smartphone, and Combat Stages.
After unlocking all the characters, you can gain Affinity with Caleb. You can increase this by completing dates or interacting with him during Playtime.

Tips:

Although you can unlock Caleb before completing the entire main story, you must complete at least Chapter 1 – Chapter 4 before proceeding to the Homecoming Wings arc.

Childhood Friends and Adopted Siblings

Before he became a Love Interest, Caleb was an NPC who was a childhood friend (NA/EU servers) or adopted brother (CN/JP/KR servers) with the MC who was adopted by Josephine.

This was revealed in the main story of the Close Beta Test until the official release, where Caleb was with the MC in several episodes, including giving the MC an Apple logo necklace as a birthday gift.

Once Thought to Be Dead

Caleb died in a tragic incident at his home with Josephine, his grandmother.

This happens while MC and her family are having dinner together. As MC is about to leave the house, a massive explosion destroys the house, killing Josephine and possibly Caleb as well.

In version 3.0, MC receives a message containing a death certificate with Caleb's name on it.

After months of searching, he meets Caleb who is still alive and working as a DAA Fighter Pilot in the Farspace Fleet.

Has a Mysterious Nature

In the main story, he reveals his true identity to the MC, which he has kept hidden for a long time.

He is a possessive, obsessive and protective figure of MC to keep him safe from anything.

Colonel Fleet Farspace

He took the DAA Fighter Pilot class at the Deepspace Aviation Administration (DAA), a secret military organization.

Caleb hasn't seen MC or Josephine for months. However, in the Pathless Realm anecdote, he never graduated from Deepspace Academy.

Then, he submitted a request to transfer to a military organization, specifically to the Farspace Fleet, and became a Colonel there.

Good at Cooking

I also became the family's personal chef because Caleb is a great cook. In several scenes, he was even seen cooking for the MC, and his cooking was delicious.
