From beginning to end, the Naruto series spanned approximately 15 years, from 1999 to 2014. This doesn't include the ongoing sequels.

This is the first chapter: the beginning of this series which tells the story of the early life and background of the Ninja universe and Naruto as the main character.

This phase includes the narrative when Naruto was still a student at the Ninja Academy (School), until his adventure to recapture Sasuke who had fled the village.

As the main character (MC), here Naruto is still a child who is trying to find his identity: telling his story when he was 11-12 years old.

Part II: Naruto Shippūden (Chapter 245-699/Episode 1-483)

This phase, better known as “Naruto: Shippūden,” tells the story of the main protagonist’s adventures after the time skip era, after completing 3 years of training with Jiraiya.

The story stretches even to the end of the series: after the Ninja Alliance's victory in the Fourth Great Ninja War. It covers Naruto's life from the age of 15 to 17.

The chapters start at chapter 245 (239-240 are filled with Kakashi Gaiden). The studio has repeated the episodes and started from number one again.

For those who don't understand, the Blank Period is a franchise transition phase. Naruto use to fill in the gaps in the story before the final chapter of the Naruto manga (700) is released.
