The first fact, Wang Zhi One Piece is known as one of the old members of the Rocks group, a legendary pirate crew that is said to be the most dangerous group of its time.

Meanwhile, information about this group was first revealed by Sengoku in One Piece chapter 957, when he explained to the young marines about the history of the pirate world.

In that explanation, names like Edward Newgate (Whitebeard), Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom), and Kaido are mentioned as former members of the Rocks. But not only them, Sengoku also mentions several other names that have become legends, such as Shiki (Golden Lion), Captain John, Silver Axe, and of course, Wang Zhi/Ochoku.

Unfortunately, despite these names, little detailed information about Wang Zhi has been provided. Even his appearance has never been explicitly shown, leaving many fans to speculate about his true form.

One of the interesting things about this character is that it was inspired by real life. The name Wang Zhi is not an original creation. Eiichiro Oda, but rather based on the name of a real pirate from China.

In real life, Wang Zhi was a pirate active in the 16th century. He was known as one of the most influential pirate leaders operating in East Asia, particularly in the waters around Japan and China. In Japan, Wang Zhi was known as "Ochoku."

So, the name Wang Zhi/Ochoku that appears in One Piece is a form of respect or reference to this historical figure.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Oda has taken inspiration from real pirates, as several other One Piece characters are also inspired by the real world, such as Marshall D. Teach who was inspired by the pirate Blackbeard.

It was once thought to appear in Thriller Bark, but it turns out it wasn't.

During the Thriller Bark arc, several legendary characters appeared in zombie form. One of them was Captain John, a former member of the Rocks who was resurrected by Gecko Moria.

In the same scene, a long-bearded zombie appears, leading fans to speculate that he's Ochoku, also known as Wang Zhi. Nearby, another zombie is seen carrying a large axe, and many believe it's Silver Axe.

However, this theory was later disproved when new information emerged in chapter 1059. In this chapter, it was stated that Wang Zhi had controlled Hachinosu Island, also known as Pirate Island, before finally being overthrown by Blackbeard.

This means that Wang Zhi was still alive and active after the Rocks era, so it is unlikely that he is a zombie in Thriller Bark.

One of the most concrete facts known about Wang Zhi in One Piece is that he was once the ruler of Hachinosu Island. This island was the former headquarters of the Rocks Pirates and later became a gathering place for high-ranking pirates.

In the revelations in chapter 1059, it was revealed that Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach) successfully seized power in Hachinosu after overthrowing Wang Zhi. This overthrow was not a random act, as Blackbeard was aided by an unexpected figure: Koby, a young Marine officer.

Blackbeard himself mentioned that the Rocky Port Incident, a mysterious event in the past, was a crucial moment in which Koby provided assistance, enabling him to seize power in Hachinosu. However, we still don't know for certain what form Koby provided.

Was it direct assistance in the form of information, strategy, or even an unintentional act?

The Rocky Port Incident is one of the mysteries that remains unsolved in One Piece. We only know that this incident played a crucial role in Blackbeard's rise to power as ruler of Pirate Island. Koby was called a "hero" in this incident, and it boosted his reputation within the Marines.

But what's interesting is that, from Blackbeard's perspective, Koby's actions actually provided an opening for him to overthrow Wang Zhi. Does this mean Koby and Blackbeard were working together? Or did Koby indirectly create chaos that Blackbeard exploited?

What is clear is that since then, Wang Zhi has not been heard from again, and Hachinosu has been under Blackbeard's control until now.

A question that often arises among One Piece fans is: is Wang Zhi still alive?

There's no definitive answer yet. However, based on the latest information, he was defeated, not killed. In the One Piece universe, a "defeated" character doesn't necessarily die, especially if it's not directly depicted in a manga panel or anime scene. Oda is also known for keeping things a little secret, so it's possible Wang Zhi will reappear in a future arc.

Moreover, with the story heading towards the climax of the Final War, it is possible that mysterious characters from the past such as Wang Zhi could reappear and bring great influence, especially if he has a grudge against Blackbeard.
