Based on information gathered from Espos, the Solo City Government recently opened registration for the Edublox extracurricular program, or free Roblox education, for junior high school students, and the program was immediately met with enthusiasm, with hundreds of students registering.
The Solo City Government's Roblox extracurricular program kicked off on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Solo Technopark is the location for students to participate in the Roblox extracurricular activity from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM WIB. The first class is limited to 20 students.
Solo Mayor Respati Ardi explained that Roblox has been received with both pros and cons by the public. Some are concerned about the negative content within the app.
However, on the other hand, Roblox is considered to be an interesting educational medium if managed properly.
"We provide additional educational extracurricular activities for public junior high schools through Roblox. So, Roblox isn't just about negative aspects; if taught properly, it can be educational. We can't avoid digital games," he explained to Solopos reporters in Mojosongo Village, Jebres District, Solo, on Tuesday (September 9, 2025).
According to him, the Solo City Government cannot prohibit games It's a popular game for children, but the Solo City Government is monitoring it to ensure children can capitalize on its positive side. Roblox can develop students' imaginations and make them more creative.
"And indeed, my hope is not for young children. Roblox is meant for middle school students, heading towards adolescence. I suggest not for children. We're focusing on middle school students," he said.
Respati Ardi explained that one of the Roblox extracurricular mentors is a teacher from the Solo City Government. The teachers will provide Roblox education to Gen Alpha.
Edublox Received Enthusiasm from Middle School Students

Participants' enthusiasm for the Edublox program was quite high. Each batch was limited to 20 participants, but the number of applicants reached 511.
Activities are scheduled regularly every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, divided into three sessions from 15.00–17.00 WIB.
Solo Technopark as a facilitator provides a place, internet network, mentors, and intensive assistance.
The Head of the Surakarta City Education Office, Dwi Ariyanto, added that this program was born from both concern and opportunity.
According to him, the digital world is indeed full of risks, but it is also inseparable from the lives of today's children.
"If we forbid it, children won't learn to protect themselves from harmful effects. Through Edublox, children are introduced to a healthy digital world, with guidance and guidance on digital ethics," he said.
