On September 4, 2025, Samsung held an event titled "Galaxy Unpacked" which focused on the launch of new products from Samsung such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 including the Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite and Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE.

The products released at the event have top-notch specifications with the latest updates:

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 FE: Smartphone variants flagship from the Galaxy S25 series with a front camera and battery capacity that has been upgraded compared to the previous series, Samsung Galaxy S24 FE.
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S11: The tablets, which include the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, have AMOLED displays, are powered by MediaTek chips, and come with Galaxy AI features.
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite: This tablet is specifically designed for students or young people and is equipped with Galaxy AI features, Galaxy S Pen and a 10.9 inch screen.
  • Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE: Samsung's special “Fan Edition” earbuds released to complement the Samsung FE line.

The “Galaxy Unpacked” event is Samsung’s third event in 2025 and can only be watched online via YouTube Samsung and the official Samsung website starting at 5:30 AM ET or 4:30 PM WIB.

However, the FE or “Fan Edition” product that Samsung fans have been waiting for is the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is a Samsung tradition of presenting a “Fan Edition” version model, namely a device with specifications close to the flagship series at a low price.

Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE has improvements compared to its previous version, the Samsung Galaxy S25 which was released on September 26, 2024.

This smartphone has a more powerful chipset, a bigger battery, the latest UI, namely OneUI 8, and a thinner body.

The presence of this smartphone has been recorded on the list of Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification pages belonging to the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) with the model number "SM-S731B" and a TKDN value of 38,20%.

The model number “SM-S731B” refers to the Samsung Galax S25 FE, which is likely if the smartphone is released in Indonesia as well.

Although it was released globally on September 4, 2025, in Indonesia itself it was available on September 18, 2025 and of course this is a week earlier than the Samsung Galaxy S24 which was released on September 26, 2024.

In this Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, the features and specifications have been improved from the previous Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

The design is not much different from the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, even when compared, these smartphones look the same.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE has 3 cameras located on the back of the body and arranged vertically.

The material used is Armor Aluminum with a smooth texture when touched by hand.

The body thickness is only 7.4 mm and the weight is 190 grams, making it thinner and lighter.

This series of smartphones is more ergonomic, because it can be put into a trouser pocket or small bag.

This Samsung has also been equipped with IP68 certification which is dust and water resistant to a depth of 1.5 m for 30 minutes.

Its durability is supported by the second generation aluminum material that wraps the frame.

There are 4 color variants to choose from, such as Jeblack, Navy, White and Icyblue, which are suitable for all groups.

The screen measures 6.7 inches and is rectangular. However, when calculated with rounded corners, it only measures 6.0 inches.

The screen also uses a 6.7 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x panel with Full HD resolution which is popular for its bright colors and high contrast.

The refresh rate is 120Hz to provide a smoother scrolling experience, whether when gaming or scrolling through social media and the brightness level is up to 1,900 so that it can still be seen even under direct sunlight.

This smartphone screen is also coated with Gorilla Glass Victus material on the front and back.

With the latest software, its performance is increasingly on par with the variants above it.

It can also play heavy games at 60 FPS with maximum graphics settings, providing an immersive visual experience.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy which gets an upgrade on two over-locked CPU cores resulting in a performance increase of up to 45% for the CPU, 48% for the GPU and 68% for the NPU.

To meet the needs of selfies and video calls, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE has a 12 MP f/2.2 front camera.

Another camera advantage is that it supports resolutions up to 8K at 30fps and 4K at 30/60/120fps.

There is gyro-EIS support for better video stabilization in the previous series.

The Galaxy AI features on the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE are even cooler, including a multimodal AI Agent that can understand voice, text, and visuals.

Cons:

Samsung S25 FE (5)
Disadvantages of the Galaxy S25 FE. Source: samsung.com

Some of the shortcomings of the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE include the following:

Small RAM Only 8GB

Although the performance is cooler than before, but with 8GB RAM it is very lacking and seems under-powered especially for using many applications, multitasking or frequently using the Galaxy AI feature.

Telephoto and Ultrawide Cameras Are Not So Good

The ultrawide and selfie cameras are quite good, but using the telephoto or ultrawide, especially at night or indoors, will result in photos that lack detail, sharpness, and high noise.

The 3x optical zoom with an 8 MP telephoto sensor is considered less good compared to flagships that have larger sensors.

Limited 4K 60 FPS Video Capture

While it supports 4K@60 FPS video on the main and selfie cameras, the ultrawide and telephoto cameras can only go up to 4K 30 FPS.

So, for those of you who often record videos by changing lenses or zooming using ultrawide/telephoto while recording, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE will lose smoothness.

Smaller Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE has a smaller battery capacity to maintain its thin body.

So, for heavy gaming, long streaming, or more intense activities, you need to charge it more often.

Prices Approaching the Standard Samsung Galaxy S25

The price difference between the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Standard is not too far, but the FE version has additional specifications and other premium features that were previously present in the Standard version.

Flagship Features in Video Log or Pro Camera App

Features like 'Expert RAW' or video log recording are found on flagship models like the Samsung Galaxy S25+ or Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and are not yet available on the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, thus limiting the flexibility of pro users.
