Monarch in Solo Leveling

Monarchs are a powerful ancient race of monsters created by the Absolute Being and the rulers of the Rulers. As such, they are the main antagonists in Solo Leveling.
They live as monster lords who want to destroy humanity and become the main antagonists after the Jeju Island Arc. They can then take over human bodies as their vessels and become even more powerful.
Their power is extraordinary, far surpassing that of a normal S-Rank Hunter or a National-Level Hunter. They have followers of monsters of their own kind.
Of course, in the Solo Leveling story, these Monarchs have quite an important history, especially in each Arc, for example:
- Jeju Island Arc: Sung Jinwoo facing off against high-class monsters like the Ant King. At the end of the arc, Monarch becomes a major threat and creates new problems.
- Japan Crisis Arc: After Jeju Island, Monarch devised a global strategy to hunt down Ruler's vessels, such as killing Christopher Reed in Japan.
- International Guild Conference Arc: Monarchs moved internationally and became a threat during the Guild Conference. These Monarchs killed one of Brazil's strongest Hunters.
- Monarchs War Arc: Sung Jinwoo fought 3 Monarchs at once, namely Sillad (Frost), Rakan (Beasts), and Querehsha (Plagues) until Sung Jinwoo's father came to help him.
- Final Battle Arc: During the battle against Antares, the strongest Monarch, Sung Jinwoo was no mere Hunter, but a Shadow Monarch who must become a savior.
- Epilogue: After the Final Battle Arc concluded, Sung Jinwoo returned to his original life, solving problems and helping other characters.
As said Antares In 'Solo Leveling: Ragnarok', a magical beast can replace a deceased Monarch by being chosen by an Absolute Being or a priest working for the deceased Monarch. After the Absolute Being is killed by the Rulers, the Monarchs ask their priests to choose a successor.
As a condition, the prospective successor must fight against the legendary eight-headed serpent named Nidhogg and must cut off its head.
Until now, there have been seven successors to the Monarch along with their original titles to replace the previous Monarch, including the following:
- Sung Suho: The Monarch of Transcendence (Successor to Antares)
- Esil Radiru: The Monarch of Gluttony, the Queen of Demons (Baran's Successor)
- Gray: The Monarch of the Hunt, the King of Beasts (Rakan's Successor)
- Sirka: The Monarch of Nightmares, the Queen of Snow Folk (Sillad's successor)
- Ammut: The Monarch of Trials, the King of Monstrous Humanoids
- Thomas Andre: The Monarch of Conquest, the King of Giants
- Arsha: The Monarch of the Void, the Queen of Insects (Querehsha's Successor)
Apart from that, there are also monarchs who are still active today who will be replaced by their successors when they die, including the following:
- Antares: The Monarch of Destruction, the King of Dragons
- Ashborn: The Monarch of Shadows, the King of the Dead
- Sung Jinwoo: Ashborn's chosen successor and became the second Shadow Monarch
- Baran: The Monarch of White Flames, the King of Demons
- Friends: The Monarch of Fangs, the King of Beasts
- Sillad: The Monarch of Frost, the King of Snow Folk
- Tarnak: The Monarch of the Iron Body, the King of Monstrous Humanoids
- Legia: The Monarch of the Beginning, the King of Giants
- Querehsha: The Monarch of Plagues, the Queen of Insects
- Yogumunt: The Monarch of Transfiguration, the King of Demonic Specters
As one of the two races created by the Absolute Being, these Monarchs are among the strongest beings who surpass the power of the gods.
Their strength is extraordinary, especially with thousands of years of fighting experience, making them unbeatable in battle and only Ruler can defeat them.
Besides that, they are so strong that even S-Rank Hunters cannot defeat them in the battle arena.
These Monarchs use the skill 'Spiritual Body Manifestation' to take over their true form and access their true powers.
In addition, they will create gates and use them to travel long distances throughout the world.
Another Monarch power is being a Master Strategist who can manipulate dimensions and domains (Monarch's Domain) for his monster army.
Then, with the many epic battles that the Monarchs have faced, it shows that they are capable of defeating S-Rank Hunters.
Despite its extraordinary powers, it still has a weakness: it must possess a human body to appear in the human world or assume physical form. Once it enters a human body, it will die like a normal human.
Furthermore, these Monarchs cannot move to the human world without a suitable human vessel. Although using this vessel allows them to still unleash their powers, they are at risk of being killed in battle.
Monarch List in Solo Leveling

After knowing about Monarch, below is a list of the main Monarchs in Solo Leveling that you should know, including the following:
Antares

The first Monarch in Solo Leveling is Antares, he is the strongest Monarch who uses a human body as a vessel and he is also the oldest Monarch,
Then, he is also called the “King of Dragons” and “Monarch of Destructions” because of his devastating power.
In human form, Antares is depicted as a middle-aged man with long red hair, a short beard, glowing red eyes and wearing red armor plus a tailcoat like a dragon noble.
He's a sadistic yet easygoing figure, delighting in destruction and taking pride in destroying millions of people. He's also willing to yield to a powerful opponent, provided both parties agree.
In the Final Battle Arc, after Sung Jinwoo (Shadow Monarch) successfully defeated the previous Monarch, Aratares realized he was being targeted.
He opened a portal from Canada, appeared in the human world, killed an S-Rank Hunter, and caused great chaos in the United States. Ultimately, he was injured and died after fighting Sung Jinwoo.
After the story is reset using the Cup of Reincarnation, Antares is resurrected. However, Sung Jinwoo eliminates the other Monarchs first, then confronts Antares in his palace.
After meeting, Antares used his 'Spiritual Body Manifestation' ability, resulting in a fight between the two, but unfortunately, Antares lost to Sung Jinwoo.
In Ragnarok, Antares agrees to reunite to help train Sung Juho, Sung Jinwoo's son, so that Suho can become the next 'Monarch of Destruction'.
As the Monarch of Destruction, Antares is the strongest Monarch in his class, making him one of the strongest creatures in Solo Leveling. Some of Antares' abilities include the following:
- Immeasurable Strength: Antares possesses incredible physical strength surpassing that of the Shadow Monarch himself.
- Immeasurable Speed: Antares can move quickly and keep up with his opponents during combat. His reflexes are so sharp that he can react to attacks.
- Night-Invulnerability: He has great strength, endurance and is immune to damage so he will not be injured from attacks.
- Combat Mastery: He has mastered all forms of fighting and is competent to defeat his opponents in battle.
- Power Bestowal: He can give his power to strong humans to utilize it through the System.
- Shapeshifting: He can change his appearance.
- Gate Creation: He can open gates to other worlds and these gates are large and red and white in color.
- Telepathy: He can communicate telepathically with Monarch.
- Dragon's Fear: He let out a shout infused with mana from his soul that would push back the weakest Monarch.
- Breath of Destruction: He can breathe fire from his mouth and is able to burn S-Rank Hunters to ashes and destroy shadow soldiers who block him.
- Fire Magic: He is skilled at using fire magic, the fire he produces is so strong that it creates powerful explosions.
- Spiritual Body Manifestation: He can transform into a giant red dragon and transform into a hybrid-dragon form.
Even though he is the strongest Monarch, Antares has several weaknesses, such as needing a human vessel to enter the human world, he can lose with the consent of his opponent, and he doesn't always win, especially when the situation is not good for him.
Ashborn

An interesting fact about Ashborn in Solo Leveling is that he was not a Monarch but a Ruler, a creator being who came from pure light at the behest of the Absolute Being.
However, after the war between the Rulers and Monarchs, he possessed a secret power that made him the Shadow Monarch aka Monarch of Shadows plus nicknamed the “King of the Dead” and “Greatest Fragment of Brilliant Light” because of his status.
In the D-Rank Dungeon Arc & Double Dungeon Arc, she appears through the game system to help Architect/Kandiaru find a suitable human for his vessel. When Sung Jinwoo nearly died in the Double Dungeon, she was drawn to him because of his determination.
In the Monarchs War Arc, when Sung Jinwoo was killed by Monarch (Rakan), he saved Sung Jinwoo and explained about the world of Monarch vs Ruler so he offered Sung Jinwoo to replace him as Shadow Monarch.
Then, in the Academy Arc/Epilogue, after the war ended, he chose to sleep for a long time, while his powers were transferred to Sung Jinwoo. Eventually, Sung Jinwoo became his successor as Shadow Monarch.
As the Monarch of Shadows and the Greatest Fragment of Brilliant Light, he is one of the strongest Monarchs in his class, rivaled only by Antares. Some of Ashborn's abilities include:
- Immeasurable Strength: Ashborn possesses incredible physical strength, he is so strong that he can destroy entire armies with his brute strength, defeat two Monarchs at once in battle and crack Baran's skull with one hand.
- Power Bestowal: He granted his powers to powerful humans to harness. However, due to his extraordinary power, he couldn't find humans with the necessary powers, so he had to create them through the System.
- Shapeshifting: He can change his appearance and make himself look like someone else.
- Umbrakinesis: As the Monarch of Shadow, he has control over his shadows and darkness and can shape them into any shape he wishes.
- Ruler's Authority: He can move and control through telekinesis and his version of Ruler's Authority is very powerful.
- Shadow Extraction: He can extract shadows from the corpses of his enemies and add them to his army.
- Shadow Exchange: He can also use shadows as portals to travel long distances quickly.
- Shadow Persevation: Ashborn can store shadows while monitoring them with his five senses.
- Monarch's Domain: He also increases the strength of all his shadow soldiers by 50% in battle.
Even though Ashborn is the strongest Monarch too, he also has weaknesses such as needing a human vessel to use and he is often tired of the never-ending battle between Monarch and Rulers so he wants to find a way to stop the fighting.
Sung Jinwoo

Everyone must have known Sung Jinwoo in Solo Leveling, he was once an E-Rank Hunter and was often looked down upon by others.
However, after the Double Dungeon, he was chosen by the System as the sole player and began to develop powerful leveling abilities. Over time, he became a feared figure as the Shadow Monarch, also known as the Monarch of Shadows.
His drastic change came when Sung Jinwoo completed the Necromancer class mission in the 'Job Change Quest' in the Double Dungeon, where he fought Igris and rose to become the Shadow Monarch.
Afterwards, Sung Jinwoo had to face other Monarchs until the Final Battle against Antares: Monarch of Destruction.
In the epilogue, Sung Jinwoo becomes stronger and can even defeat all the Monarchs without the help of the Rulers and leads a large number of shadow troops.
As the Monarch of Shadows or Shadow Monarch, Sung Jinwoo has several advantages which are divided into 3 skills, namely passive, active and job abilities, including:
Passive Skill:
- Will To Recover: Sung Jinwoo can regenerate from any type of damage done to his body except fatal wounds such as stab wounds and lost limbs.
- Longevity: He is immune to all diseases, poisons, and anything that could harm his status. His regeneration rate is also much faster than that of a normal human.
- Detoxification: His body is able to cleanse itself of any poison once it is detected in his bloodstream.
- Tenacity: If his health drops below 30% during battle, the damage he receives will then be reduced by 50% to keep him alive.
- Advanced Dagger Techniques: If Sung Jinwoo uses his dagger during battle, the damage dealt to his opponent will increase by 33%.
Active Skill:
- Stealth: He can camouflage with his surroundings and hide all his traces because he can make himself invisible.
- Bloodlust: He can intimidate enemies into defeat, capable of instilling fear and reducing their stats by 50%.
- Quicksilver: It can increase its speed by 30% in a short time.
- Mutilation: He aims for the target's vital points before slashing with the dagger while dealing damage.
- Dagger Rush: He also showered the target with daggers.
- Ruler's Authority: Then, he can move and control objects through telekinesis and allows him to move and avoid attacks.
- Dragon's Fear: He shouted with full mana from his soul to push away anyone who was weak.
Job Skills:
- Shadow Extraction: He can extract shadows from the corpses of his enemies and add them to his army.
- Shadow Preservation: He also keeps shadows and monitors them with his senses.
- Shadow Exchange: He can also use his shadow as a portal to travel long distances in an instant.
- Monarch's Domain: He was also able to increase the strength of all his soldiers by 50% in battle.
Even though Sung Jinwoo is also strong, he still has several weaknesses, such as his mana running out faster, especially when summoning a lot, if he has the wrong strategy, he can get trapped, and there is mental pressure and a big responsibility to save humanity.
Sung Jinwoo became the strongest Monarch among the other Monarchs because he inherited the power of Ashborn and was able to defeat other Monarchs including Antares as the strongest Monarch in Solo Leveling.
Baran

Baran, known as the “Monarch of White Flames” and the “King of Demons,” was once a legendary Rulers and the oldest Monarch who ever participated in the war between Monarchs and Rulers.
His true form died long ago, but he was resurrected by the system as a boss in the Demon Castle Dungeon and also became the main opponent faced by Sung Jinwoo.
He appears as a large, gray-skinned demon with glowing eyes, white hair, horns, and distinctive armor. When he arrives at the Demon Castle, he changes slightly, developing red eyes and a sinister appearance.
Baran is very arrogant, fierce and confident when he is worthy of fighting Satan or other Monarchs. However, after being resurrected as a Dungeon boss, he became good to Sung Jinwoo.
In the Return to Demon Castle Arc, Sung Jinwoo obtains the S-Class key to the Demon Castle. After passing 99 floors with monsters and receiving assistance from Esil Radiru, he meets Baran.
Baran brings his troops and uses his lightning abilities, but Sung Jinwoo handles Baran by severing his left arm and hitting him in the face.
In Double Dungeon / Ashborn's Memory, Sung Jinwoo previously saw Ashborn's memories of the war against other Monarchs, including Ashborn's fight against Baran. So, the battle at Demon Castle was actually just a simulation.
As the King of Demons and one of the Nine Kings, he is a powerful figure. Here are some of his strengths, such as:
- Immense Strength: He has great physical strength to the point of staggering his opponents and forcing them to defend themselves.
- Immense Speed: He can move quickly.
- Immense Durability: It has incredible endurance.
- Hell's Army: Can summon his demon army using portals.
- Lightning Breath: Able to spray lightning from his mouth and give a stun effect to the target.
- White Flames: Can transform himself into a bolt of lightning and attack his opponent at high speed, causing massive damage.
- Doppelgangers: By swallowing the target's blood and flesh, he can change his appearance to look like his target.
- Blood Crystal: It can absorb the souls of other demons, drastically increasing its size and power.
Baran's weakness is that he has a clone created by the system (Kandiaru) which is not as strong as the original Baran and does not have control of a high-level Monarch domain like the Shadow Monarch.
Friend

Another Monarch in Solo Leveling is Rakan, also known as the "King of Beasts," also known as the Monarch of Fangs. He is one of the Monarchs created by the Absolute Being, possessing extraordinary power, immense influence, and a significant role in the Monarch War Arc.
His appearance is dark skinned, large and muscular with messy black hair, glowing yellow eyes, fangs that will appear when he transforms into a giant white wolf.
This friend is very aggressive, likes to fight and is not afraid of violence. He also has a sense of pride as a Monarch, often looks down on humans, often hurts his enemies.
He first appeared after Sung Jinwoo began to attract the Monarchs' attention. In the Jeju Island Arc, the Monarchs commended Sung Jinwoo for his success, and Rakan, one of the Monarchs, was tasked with investigating and confronting Sung Jinwoo's threats.
In the Monarch War Arc, Rakan confronts Sung Jinwoo. He battles other Monarchs such as Sillad and Querehsha. In Seoul and other locations, Rakan unleashes his immense physical abilities.
Eventually, a duel ensued between Sung Jinwoo and Rakan in a forest. Sung Jinwoo challenged him, demanding that Rakan survive five attacks, while Rakan could only survive four.
In the Ragnarok Arc, Rakan died while fighting Sung Jinwoo, but still left behind his legacy like Gray and Fang of Rakan.
Rakan also possesses many terrifying powers; he is the King of Beasts and one of the 9 Monarchs. Here are some of his powers:
- Immense Strength: He possesses immense physical strength. He was able to fight Thomas Andre and defeat him when he reached his full strength. He was also able to slice through Sung Jinwoo's skin and pierce his chest with his claws.
- Immense Speed: He moves quickly and his skill is able to match his enemy's movements and attack quickly.
- Immense Durability: He is extremely strong and is able to withstand massive damage in battle without sustaining the slightest injury.
- Gate Creation: It can open gates to other worlds by swinging its claws and tearing through space. These gates are red and shaped like the tears of its claws.
- Telekinesis: He is able to control and move objects telekinetically.
- Regeneration: He can recover from his injuries, but his regeneration is still limited because he cannot save his own life when hit during a fight.
- Spiritual Body Manifestation: He can transform into a giant white wolf and can transform into other forms.
Even though Rakan has strength, he also has weaknesses and limitations such as lack of control over strong opponents and his strategy only relies on physical strength, he also needs a human vessel to bring out his abilities and can give in if his enemy is stronger than him.
He is an official member of Monarch to be a threat to humans, he commands certain types of monsters and uses human vessels to manifest in the human world.
Possessing immense physical strength, he also became one of Sung Jinwoo's greatest enemies in the Monarch War Arc. There was a moment where he tried to kill Sung Jinwoo, but he was defeated after four attacks.
Sillad

Another Monarch in Solo Leveling is Sillad, known as the “King of Snow Folk” and the “Monarch of Frost.” He is a super-powerful being with extraordinary abilities.
Sillad is a non-human alien/high elf whose body is different from other races such as blue skin, long silver hair, scary white eyes.
He first appeared in the Jeju Island Arc as one of the Monarchs, posing a major threat to Sung Jinwoo. In Jeju, when an army of monsters attacked, he sought to destroy the Hunters to demonstrate his power.
In the Monarch War Arc, he follows a plan against Sung Jinwoo. He and Rakan and Querehsha formed the "Monarch War" formation, where the three of them saw that Sung Jinwoo was a big problem and had to be dealt with.
The fight between Sillad and Sung Jinwoo was quite intense because Sillad had peaceful and extreme abilities when using his ice powers.
Then in the Ragnarok Arc, Sillad appears as a legendary figure who is still connected to the Monarchs of Frost who will be passed on to a new successor.
Sillad also possesses many terrifying powers. He is the King of the Snow Folk and one of the Nine Monarchs. Here are some of his powers:
- Immense Strength: He has extraordinary physical strength with quite high endurance when in combat.
- Immense Speed: He can move quickly because he can easily avoid attacks.
- Immense Durability: It also has incredible durability.
- Gate Creation: Sillad can open gates to other worlds with just a flick of his wrist.
- Ice Breath: He also shoots a jet of ice from his mouth so he can freeze anything that gets in his way.
- Ice Magic: Sillad also creates waves of ice that will create weapons, create monsters from ice and summon large ice storms.
- Energy Blast: He also shoots energy blasts from his hands that will move rapidly.
- Spiritual Body Manifestation: Sillad can change into another form that makes him look younger.
- Sleep Induction: He can also make ordinary humans fall asleep just by snapping his fingers.
Even though Sillad has strength, he also has several weaknesses, such as when his enemy blocks his Ice Breath, his attack will fail, his physical stamina and endurance do not last long so he will lose in the middle of the fight.
Tarnak

One of the Monarchs in Solo Leveling is also Tarnak or known as the “King of Monstrous Humanoids” and “Monarch of Iron Body”.
He is also one of the nine Monarchs created by the Absolute Being, possessing superhuman powers. As a Monarch, he is no ordinary human, despite using a human vessel to exist in the human world.
Physically, he is a tall and muscular young man, with blonde hair, green eyes and wearing a long white coat with a collar, shoulder guards, white gloves, and dark pants which make him even tougher.
Tarnak has a selfish and overconfident personality, he doesn't like humans and thinks Sung Jinwoo is not worthy of being the Shadow Monarch because Sung Jinwoo is human.
In the Japan Crisis Arch, he appears at the S-Rank Gate in Tokyo. He, along with other Monarchs such as Rakan and Querehsha, participates in an attack on Christopher Reed at his home, and the three of them successfully kill him.
Then in the Monarch War Arc, when Sillad invited Monarch to attack Sung Jinwoo when he was still human, Tarnak refused because he didn't want to fight alone and preferred to wait for Antares (Monarch of Destruction).
Meanwhile, in the Final Battle Arc, when Antares attacked the human world, Tarnak also intervened. He fought Thomas Andre, but ended up trapped. Bellion and Beru then appeared from the shadows and attacked him.
Without telepathic signals, he was overwhelmed. Then, he finally manifested with his Spiritual Body Manifestation power, but he was ultimately defeated.
Tarnak also possesses many terrifying powers. He is the King of Monstrous Humanoids and one of the 9 Monarchs. Here are some of his powers:
- Telepathy: He can communicate telepathically with fellow Monarchs.
- Gate Creation: He can open gates to other worlds.
- Iron Body Reinforcement: He can drastically increase his attack and defense power. This ability will strengthen his soul and make him immune to all types of life-threatening debuffs.
- Spiritual Body Manifestation: He can transform into a terrifying golem with fiery lime green hair and dark gray armor.
Even though he is one of the strong Monarchs, he also has several weaknesses such as arrogance, often underestimating others including Sung Jinwoo, relying on Antares' help, and limited physical and strategic abilities.
Tarnak is called Monarch because of his ancient race with extraordinary powers, he is also the leader of monsters in his class “Monstrous Humanoids” and has high power over Hunters and other humans.
Legia

One of the Monarchs in Solo Leveling is Legia who is called the “King of Giants” and “Monarch of the Beginning” who was created by the Absolute Being.
He was no ordinary human; his body was enormous, with gray skin, long, messy black hair, a shaggy beard, and glowing red eyes. This appearance gave a frightening, primitive impression due to his size and aura of immense power.
Legia is cunning, arrogant, humorous, manipulative, and self-serving. She once promised to fight alongside Sung Jinwoo against the Rulers, but she only wanted to free him first.
Legia first appeared in the Japan Crisis Arc, where Japan was overwhelmed by an S-Rank Gate that suddenly appeared in Tokyo. He appeared as the boss hiding from the Gate, and the Rulers wanted to free Legia from their captivity.
When Sung Jinwoo entered the Gate, Legia asked for his cooperation to perform the 'Pledge of Trust' spell that would make them honest with each other.
However, Sung Jinwoo was very intelligent, he found the stone around Legia's neck and knew it was a trap. Legia then attacked Sung Jinwoo, but Sung Jinwoo managed to dodge his attack and beheaded Legia in one blow.
Legia also possesses many terrifying powers. He is the King of Giants and one of the 9 Monarchs. Here are some of his powers:
- Immense Strength: Has extraordinary physical strength.
- Pledge of Trust: Can cast spells between himself and others to make them honest with each other.
- Gate Creation: He can open gates to other worlds.
- Spiritual Body Manifestation: Can change shape.
Even though Legia is very strong, he also has several weaknesses, such as his powers are limited, his powers are easily attacked, he cannot become a Shadow Soldier because he is a spiritual organism and does not have an organic body.
The reason he is called Monarch is because he is one of the earliest and most powerful Monarchs who has a large monster race as his followers.
He also played a significant role in the Japan Crisis Arch to free himself and fight Sung Jinwoo which made it clear that he was a big problem.
His actions and presence had a huge impact because his physical strength immediately appeared, making him a Monarch to be wary of.
Querehsha

Querehsha is the only female Monarch in Solo Leveling who is nicknamed the “Monarch of Plagues” and “Queen of Insects”.
His appearance is quite scary, he has a pale face, long black hair, glowing red eyes, purple lips, a plump body and his limbs have insect-like characteristics.
He also wears a dark green-black armor outfit that is quite open on the chest and shoulders to give a confident and tough impression.
Querehsha likes war and slaughter, he likes to see the suffering of others because of his role as the Monarch of Plagues which gives him a grotesque edge using his cruelty as a weapon.
He first appeared in the Japan Crisis Arc, where he took action alongside other Monarchs such as Rakan and Tarnak. He hunted down Ruler vessels and participated in the assassination of Christopher Reed.
Then, in the Monarch War Arc, he fought Sung Jinwoo alongside Sillad and Rakan. There, he briefly lost focus after forcing Beru to surrender, giving Sung Jinwoo the opportunity to attack him from behind.
However, he also managed to regenerate his body after being torn in half, but in the end he still lost when Sung Jinwoo exploited his weakness.
Querehsha also possesses many terrifying powers. She is the Queen of Insects and one of the 9 Monarchs. Here are some of her powers:
- Immense Strength: He has great physical strength, where he can punch his opponent hard enough to draw blood.
- Mana Manipulation: He can also create giant glowing green hands out of mana to use.
- Venom Induction: He can also expel concentrated poison from his body.
- Necromancy: He can also revive and control the dead using parasites.
- Regeneration: He also recovers from his injuries quickly. However, his regeneration is limited, as he cannot regenerate his entire body a second time.
- Gate Creation: He can also open gates to other worlds.
- Spiritual Body Manifestation: He can transform into an insect monster.
- Pledge of Trust: He can also cast spells between himself and others to make them tell the truth to each other.
Although Querehsha is very strong, he also has weaknesses such as relying too much on poison and plague so that he is less effective against enemies who are immune to poison, often distracted by other things so that he is easily countered by his own opponents and limited regeneration.
The reason it is called Monarch is because it controls special domains such as insects and diseases and plays a role in arena battles, it is quite strong, fast, manipulative, area control and very poisonous.
Yogurt

The last Monarch in Solo Leveling is Yogumunt, he is one of the 9 strongest Monarchs created by Absolute Being.
Yogumunt is nicknamed the “King of Demonic Spectres” and “Monarch of Transfiguration” who has the power of manipulation and control over forms, portals and forces.
His appearance is very unique, with him being an old man, with glowing pink eyes and red blob symbols on his body. He also wears shabby robes, a skull mask, and ornaments resembling metal horns.
He views humans as weak and inferior creatures, he is also proud to be a Monarch and is self-aware of his position among other Monarchs.
In the Recruitment Arc, he appears when Monarch begins to fight over information about the Rulers. He meets Sillad, who is searching for a Ruler in the United States, and then reveals that there is a Ruler in Korea. However, they are both attacked by Il-Hwan (Sung Jinwoo's father).
Then in the Monarchs War Arc, he was asked by Sillad to join in attacking Sung Jinwoo, but Yogumunt refused because he didn't want to take a big risk, aka didn't want to die.
Then, Sung Jinwoo defeated several Monarchs in Korea, but Yogumunt instead met Antares and informed him that Ashborn had defected.
In the Final Battle Arc, he invaded the human world alongside Antares. He opened numerous portals to summon dragon armies and other Monarch forces to hinder Sung Jinwoo.
However, Sung Jinwoo uses his 'Dragon's Fear' skill to paralyze Antares and Yogumunt's forces, then uses the Shadow Exchange technique to move the battle location and isolate Antares.
In the Epilogue, after Sung Jinwoo uses his Cup of Reincarnation, he begins hunting down the Monarchs one by one. Yogumunt and Antares are the only ones left, and Sung Jinwoo finds Yogumunt and fights him until he defeats him.
Yogumunt also possesses many terrifying powers. He is the King of Demonic Specters and one of the 9 Monarchs. Here are some of his powers:
- Levitation: It can float freely off the ground.
- Gate Creation: He can also create multiple gates to transport him and his troops.
- Spiritual Body Manifestation: He can also manifest his spiritual form and use his body to fight.
Even though he is strong, Yogumunt also has some weaknesses such as depending on the support of a stronger Monarch in large battles, his strategies can be broken and he can be defeated by his enemies who have stronger skills than him.
With the nickname Monarch of Transfiguration, he can show his power to change shape, manipulate shapes, control portals and lead an army of Spectre Demons.
