This way, you can all follow the discussion more easily. Let's start with the type first. The Antique Cuirass falls into the Defense category.
In the current meta, it's best suited for Roamers, especially Tank users. The reason is simple: this item is great for absorbing incoming physical damage.
As an early item, it's relatively inexpensive and very flexible. Players only need to accumulate 2170 gold. Here's the crafting process:
- Dreadnaught Armor (730 Gold): upgrade Leather Jerkin (220 Gold) x2
- Ares Belt (700 Gold): upgrade Vitality Crystal (300 Gold)
You can get the Antique Cuirass from that route. However, VCGamers strongly recommends just crafting the Dreadnaught Armor as the core material.

Antique Cuirass Passive Explanation
As explained above, this item has a unique passive called Deter. This passive is undoubtedly its main attraction and the main reason players buy this item.
Yep, this passive reduces the opponent's physical damage by 6% for 2 seconds. Not only that, but this effect can also stack up to 3 times, for a total of 18% reduced physical damage!
So, if you meet physical melee heroes (Assassins/Fighter), make sure you buy this item as soon as possible so that their damage can be reduced drastically.
Item Mechanics
As a damage reduction item, its presence is certainly crucial—especially when facing core/roamer bursts. This takes into account the item's mechanics.
Unlike other defense items that generally only strengthen their users, the Antique Cuirass' Deter passive is a debuff effect: it weakens enemy heroes affected by this effect.
To achieve this Deter effect, the user must be able to deal damage to the target hero using their skills. So, make sure your skills are delivered effectively.
Additionally, you can also find this passive in the core material, the Dreadnaught Armor! While the effect is less (4%), you only need to spend <1000 Gold.
So, this is a good buy to counteract the aggressive physical cores in the early game. That's why it's recommended to just buy Dreadnaught Armor early on.
However, if the enemy has already snowballed and it is too difficult to reduce the damage, then you need to allocate Gold to upgrade to Antique Cuirass.
Well, you can sell these items (both core materials and finished items) after entering the late game – right when the two teams no longer have a level or item gap.
You can use this slot to buy other late game items that can increase your sustain capacity, such as Immortality, Wind of Nature (WoN), or Winter Truncheons.
