The Vega APUs in the Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 lineup, namely the Ryzen 5 5600G with Vega 7 and Ryzen 7 5700G with Vega 8, are powered by chips based on GCN's now aging 5th generation architecture. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Radeon RX 5000 series of GPUs introduces this architecture, and AMD is marketing these APUs as AAA gaming capability.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, Intel used the Intel 7 microarchitecture to develop the new iGP UHD 710, 730, and 770 solutions found in Alder Lake-S chips. However, this integrated graphics processor is not meant for gaming.<\/span><\/p>\n

In most modern AAA games, we've seen AMD APUs beat Intel chips by a solid margin. This is because Intel never developed its iGPU for gaming, and was only intended for use in casual browsing and productivity workloads.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the video above, we see the Intel UHD 770 and AMD Vega 8 go head-to-head in a demanding mix of old and modern games. In all tests, AMD Vega graphics beat Intel's selection by a wide margin.<\/span><\/p>\n

If users want to play video games without a GPU, you should take a look at AMD APUs. Team Red has developed some capable APUs with decent CPU and GPU performance. Plus, at an affordable price, you can act as a worthy replacement for a graphics card.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of AMD's older APUs may be considered in entry-level, low-budget builds. Examples include the Ryzen 3 3200G, a processor that packs an 11-core Vega iGPU. In most modern games, it performs as good as the Ryzen 7 5700G processor.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Intel chips can be a viable alternative if gaming isn't a priority. This iGPU is capable enough to handle casual gaming, productivity workloads, and browsing requirements. <\/span><\/p>\n

Intel also has more options to choose from compared to AMD. Thus, users with varied budgets can easily choose the processor that best suits their interests.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even though AMD is in the overall lead in terms of performance, the company only has two APUs available in the market. Both of these chips are aimed at the performance part of the market.<\/span><\/p>\n
Intel has come a long way with its iGPU technology and the latest chips are far more capable. The latest UHD 770 chip found in high-end Alder Lake processors can run some modern games at 30+ FPS.<\/span><\/p>\n
