Origin & Meaning of Name

Its Kanji name is 憎 (hatred) + 珀 (amber) + 天 (heaven), which means “Petrified Hatred Heaven”. The design refers to the Japanese legendary wooden Oni and the patushka (Russian wooden nesting doll).  

He is a clone that represents the pure hatred that crystallized within Hantengu after centuries of being a demon.

Can grow 5 wooden dragons at once from his back, each with a different function: 

• 1 for physical attacks (biting, crushing).
• 1 for energy attack (green laser from mouth).
• 1 for defense (anti-Nichirin wooden shield).
• 1 for regeneration (repairing Zohakuten's body).
• 1 for sensing (detects enemies within a radius of 1 km).

Even though he looks strong, he still has a weakness, namely the 5th Dragon (sensing) is his central nervous system, if it is cut, his coordination will be messed up.

• Living Wood: Its body is not flesh, but demonic wood cells that are harder than iron.

Visual Design

Uses the color green which symbolizes poison & decay (contrast to Mitsuri's pink/love). Has the Kanji symbol 憎 (hatred) eyes that pulsate like a heart when angry.  

In addition, the wooden Dragon resembles the Yamata-no-Orochi (the eight-headed snake from Japanese myth).  

Able to Combine 4 Other Hantengu Clone Techniques

Basically, Zohakuten is the result of a combination of 4 Hantengu clones. So that makes him also master the demon blood techniques of Sekido, Aizetsu, Karaku, and Urogi.

So, he can use Sekido's ability to create electricity, project spear attacks from Aizetsu's technique, create large gusts of wind thanks to Karaku's ability, as well as Urogi's scream power.

He can also combine the devil blood techniques. In fact, the attack effect is at a higher level.
